Remember, Adobe was funded by Apple when they started and the love affair will mos def continue. As for your word processing, have you looked into NeoOffice?
Maybe that will help you http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php It's FREE btw.

I have yeah, not a fan :P I prefer MS Office for that stuff, they really do an excellent job and I don't mind paying for the product. I really don't like NeoOffice or Open Office :(

Adobe products will RUN fine but if you're a designer and you're dealing with large files, every single operation takes longer... filters and effects can take forEVER to process...

Not to mention they don't even have standard hotkeys across their apps and they break Apple's own best practices guidelines by doing lame things like changing the global "hide app" shortcut in Illustrator ... but not Photoshop ... granted you can change these but I'm just using that as an example :P

One more thing I'll add is the obvious hardware cost and the fact that their hardware is closed so the options are microscopic when compared to a PC... and the cost is absolutely ridiculous...

I bought a macbook pro two years ago, best choice ever. It's just so smooth, nothing like Windows. I still use a Windows PC but I prefer the mac over anything.

i dont like mac OS...sorry
but luck to you ;)

Mac is great, I switched a few years ago and wonder why it took me so long.

Sometimes I think I am the last guy one in the office without a Mac and all the guys all trying to convince me to become a Mac user....but I am just waiting untill they understand Mac's enough, so I can have them fix my shit when my future Mac doesn't do what I want or I run into stuff that doesn't work.

i switched over to mac around 12 years ago lol. osx is fucking awesome, especially with unix underneath it all.

I prefer to have a computer I can customize to infinity without being raped on the price, cheaper hardware, and much more functionality and options.

PC wins.

bbwdollars 03-19-2010 03:02 PM

same hardware, unix kernel, fancy box = $$$$

Exactly.

I had PC, went MAC, went back to PC.

I'm much more productive on the PC. No need to relearn how to do everything because it's the hip thing to do or it looks glossy. Stick to what you know. If you know MAC, don't move to PC.

I have no love for the Mac. I have two of them from my Vista era meltdown. Now that Windows7 is here my iMac collects dust and my macbook gets used to type messages like this while I sit on the crapper...which I am doing now.

TTYL, legs getting numb.

Me too!
i have 3 macs. A macbook pro that has a broken screen (no need to get it fixed) and the first mac with the intel processors that has two dual cores, and I have a dual quad mac, and ever since windows 7 I dont even turn the things on. I just wanted to see what they are all about. I didn't find them practical at all. Mac fanbois are the equivalent of emo kids. Not to mention mac is so proprietary and putting a clamp on technology. You fanbois make me laugh. Mac is no different than the man.

Do it! Leopard and especially Snow Leopard shit all over any OS MS has EVER put out and oh yea, no freezes, crashes or viruses! Installing new programs to it actually work too! No searching for drivers to update and all that bullshit MS makes you deal with. Not to mention that you can run that POS Windows OS on it if you really must. Its a no brainer.

But does it run Battlefield?

Security expert Charlie Miller intends to disclose a potentially record-breaking 20 zero day security holes in Apple's Mac OS X in one fell swoop.

Quote:

"Mac OS X is like living in a farmhouse in the country with no locks, and Windows is living in a house with bars on the windows in the bad part of town."

Mr. E 03-19-2010 08:21 PM

Big deal. Even if the few security holes do exist, OS X is a millon times safer and more stable than any Windows OS :)

Joshua G 03-19-2010 09:09 PM

Fuck apple computer. The way they censor the app store & lock the iphone so you can only use ATT shows how they run their affairs like big brother. I bet everything i do with my phone ends up in a secret database in cupertino.
