Its all about Charlie and how men envy his lifestyle. :)

I love it - but I was raised by a man :winkwink:

I think the writing is quick and the characters are allowed to really exploit their stereotypes - bitchy ex wife, crazy stalker neighbor, beefy maid, henpecked ex husband, wild bachelor. And I have to say the kid is an excellent actor.

Seriously? Most people I know here think it is the worst of the worst. It was okay until the older son left (to do British Telecom adverts, pretty much) but every time I catch a bit they have new family members. Which, again, is a shame because the actors are good actors it is just a flimsy show.

British comedy at its finest is stuff like Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, The Young Ones....in my view, anyway.

Sarah_Jayne 03-15-2010 12:02 PM

Outnumbered ...was one recent British sitcom I did like.

pornguy 03-15-2010 12:06 PM

I get to watch from time to time BigBang, Friends ( I know it was canceled ) and also Two and a Half Men.

How to ruin Two and a Half Men (and most U.S. sitcoms). Watch it and look out for the laughter track, its massively overused and you can see the actors stopping and waiting between each gag, mentally guessing when the laughter track should end before acting again. There, thats that show ruined for you all! :D

Also sarah_maxcash, you are in the uk arn't you? pop down to hmv and pick up the box sets of some of the more obsure uk sitcoms like nightingales, citizen smith, operation good guys, the goodies and the detectives

agreed :thumbsup

My misses started watching it, then I joined her. Its very funny. I do hope they make another series.:2 cents:

US Sitcoms like King of queens & raymond keep myself amused in the middle of the day when I want a brake from filming, editing or the PC.

Doctor Feelgood 03-15-2010 12:24 PM

that fat lady Bertha from 2 and a half men is funny as hell

Can't think of any way how to bash that show, liked every single episode so far, the main couple is actually so great that they always deliver, even if lots of stuff looks like improvisation.

Didn't had a chance to catch the Fawlty Towers and The Young ones yet, but I heard a lots of good and plan to order those.

james_clickmemedia 03-15-2010 01:30 PM

Modern Family is the best sit com recently.

michael.kickass 03-15-2010 04:03 PM

"The IT Crowd" is a good one. British btw.

I have lived here long enough to have actually seen all of those :) I meant current ones. Weirdly, I first saw Citizen Smith on a Virgin Atlantic flight about ten years ago. A strange one to select for their in flight entertainment.

Good point! I love the IT Crowd. My friend was just an extra in a filming of it this week, actually. He had to send in a photo to prove he looked like a geek. He has gotten us tickets to a taping but it is out at Pinewood and not sure if we can get the travel arrangements to work.

If anybody has the DVD of the first season watch the first episode with the leet speak commentary. It makes it even funnier.

She was in a tons of tv stuff when I was growing up. One of those character actors that must have had a real in with the casting people.

BobChezule 03-16-2010 08:58 AM

Community is consistently funny with a good cast.
Modern Family is the same.
Parks and Recreation is surprisingly strong in its second season.

Miz_Wright 03-16-2010 12:26 PM

Mine have all been mentioned:

It's Always Sunny (which I've been hearing about forever and finally managed to catch)

Two and a Half Men

Big Bang (excellent taste, Sarah)

How I Met Your Mother

I'm hearing killer things about Archer, too.

Sarah_Jayne 03-17-2010 05:06 AM

I keep meaning to watch It's Always Sunny. Being originally from Philly I perked when I saw it mentioned in a tv line up over here a couple years back. I watched a few episodes and thought it was okay (but not amazing) and was willing to give it more of a shot. Then, I couldn't find it again on that channel. I am sure it is around somewhere on cable.
