:mad WTF is making this noise in my truck?

Of course, when I take it into the dealership, it doesn't do it. So last night, I whipped out my flip video and recorded it.

You have a vibrator hidden in the dash. It was a little-known special order option on Dodge Durangos.

Sounds like the clutch on the ac unit or possibly the fan motor is having some problems.....just a guess

Good luck!

Be sure to let us know what is was when you get it fixed.

You can only hope that one day the batteries in the vibrator will die.

Almost sounds like the speaker is picking up some interference. You didn't mention if the noise happens without the AC running.

Try to isolate it, blower on high or low with AC on, high and low with heat on, vehicle moving or not.

LOL you have air leaking in from somewhere. Check your window seals, door seals, look and see if you have a cabin air filter... maybe it's dirty as fuck...

Windshield wiper is fluttering.

Only makes that noise when you are driving?

It only makes that noise when the wind is blowing outside. If the wind is blowing hard enough, it will make that noise when the AC is off, too. Of course, the first time I took it into the dealership, it didn't do it. They "claim" they put a fan to that side of the truck and it still didn't do it. Now, I can take it in and show them the video.

Turn them on and see if the noise stops.

I haven't noticed it when the truck is sitting and the wind is blowing outside.

When you are driving, you will get turbulent airflow over the hood and onto the windshield. If a wiper arm is worn out, the spring pressure isnt enough to keep the wiper pressed against the windshield, and the wiper will make that fluttering sound you are hearing.

Get a piece of foam. have someone wedge it in different locations between the dash and the windshield.. see if that stops it.. Also check the passenger door and the center console and the ash tray.

I'm going to try those suggestions including having the dealership check the climate control fan.

I specialized in wind noises and water leaks at a dealership years ago. They should be able to pinpoint it by doing some driving with it and using a stethoscope. Really the video gives some ideas of what it might be, but they should be able to find it fairly easily doing a live drive with it.

i'd get it looked at right away tho

Your truck is giving you a raspberry! Are your mechanics Cowboys fans? hehe

Sounds like the folks here diagnosed it. Some cars have that little air diverter on the wiper arm for a reason.. to keep it pressed flat.

Well, was it the windshield wiper?

Turn off everything when you are driving, and if you still hear that noise, turn on the wipers. If it quits while the wipers are moving, then you found the problem... its the wiper fluttering.

If the noise quits when you turn off the A/C or heater, then you found the problem.. the fan.

If none of that works and it still makes that noise, then good luck cause I dont know wtf it is.
