Why not just drop the "Program Discussion" from "Fucking Around & Program Discussion". Turn "Program Announcements" into "Program Discussion", and bitchslap anyone who fucks around outside "Fucking Around"?Comment

actually you can make an instaban for people that abuse that..
i am a member of mainstream forums that allow un checked new account sign ups and they still do a great job controlling it...
you should give it a shot... its not as bad as you think it will be if you ban people for life for spamming..

That is a thought, I will think about it. The tough part is we then have to have people tell us or let us know when it is being abused. Users here tend to like to bitch about things instead of telling us about shit like that. I will give it some thought over the weekend though.actually you can make an instaban for people that abuse that..

Great idea!
I think 25-100 searches per webmaster would be great! I use it from time to time and it's annoying. I was thinking about wicked idea of scraping whole GFY just to make my own personal search db but it failed since I can't see the archived .html version of GFY.

Actually thats, more or less, the reason we have the 120sec-rule. A lot of years ago, 2005 or so?, there were a lot of "search all boards"-services which put quite a heavy load on the forums. Dont know if they are still around but I doubt it...Comment

Well, IMO there is a modification that can be done, but it's somewhat mathematical. And it involves allowing "rate this post" type thing. That is a thought, I will think about it. Any given member can only rate a maximum of XX posts per day.
Any given member can only rate any other member's post once per day (to prevent hate/grievance negative feedback)
Thread starter posts get added weight (both -ve and +ve) to their (OP) postfeedback
Why?
I'd love to be able to view only threads started by people with +ve rating
I'd love to be able to ignore all posts by anyone with say X -ve rating
I'd love for anyone with XX -ve rating to be gone (for a week for eg)
must be endless possibilities
This would allow for some form of self-policing in the forum without "ban hammer" style banning. It allows for the community to weight people's posts.... and the outcome can be decided afterwards.

Probably because it's too much work. Easier to just let things get a bit out of control then roll into town with the banhammer every few weeks or so.I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I wish I was drinking wine instead.Comment

We already have private messages. We can add "friends" on the control panel, too.
Of course, all this time I've communicating through secret private gfy messages that are not for everyone to see.
But, of course, nothing escapes the mind of the psychics that completely read my mind.
Anyway, by my estimations - less than 30% of people are psychics that read my mind.Send me an email: [email protected]Comment

Which I get but there have been times when I have had somebody say 'hit me up' on here and they have no contact details in their sig or profile. So, then I have had to go to another board I know they hang out so I could send them a PM there.Comment
