Yeah I heard this on the news the other day. They said they have over 1000 soldiers stationed on the Island but I dont think Argentina will try to take the Falklands again they are allways causing gripe over it. This is all over the oil deposites around the Island

Not really true from what the brits are claiming. The Americans dithered in 1982, not wanting to upset their South American Allies and pushing for a negotiated settlement. The brits got help from Norway and France a "high ranking British military source" said.

According to British Secretary of Defence at the time Sir John Nott it was the French who were your real allies during the Falklands Conflict, sending personnel over to Britain in order to provide information, codes and training with regard to the Exocet Missiles and Mirage aircraft.

Norway gave us a stream of information about the Argentine warships? positions. The information (intercepted Soviet satellite intelligence data) came to us all the time and straight to our war headquarters at Northwood. The information was continuously updated and told us exactly where the Argentine ships were. The Norwegians were NATO members and helped Britain from the start.

It was only after a considerable period of dragging it's feet that America finally sided with Britain, a fellow NATO member. Even then American help was marginal and not by any means a deciding factor in the conflict.

a UK nuclear submarine would be enough to disable their navy as it did the first time around, our ships have far better defences against missiles and planes now, our planes are superior (eurofighter) and we have a proper airbase there now, and as far as ground troops there's no comparison. the only argentine advantage is that there mainland is so close.

it was hard last time because the argentines had already dug in, and we had to travel 8000 miles just to get there and take everything we needed on ships. if it happened again it would be over far quicker and much easier.
