Delta Airlines BLOWS

I went to book a trip last night and went through Delta because they have a connection through Atlanta instead of Chicago, and I can't risk being late to a meeting I have. Meanwhile, I have a pretty good stack of miles in my account and have a few 100k I can transfer from Amex.

So last night, after spending over an hour and a half on the phone, I confirm with the woman I spoke with that the seats I am buying are upgradeable to first class for 15k miles. No problem, I'm happy and they transfer me to the "upgrade" department, but they are closed and reopen this morning.

Today I call and Ive been on hold for about 30-45 minutes waiting to get the upgrade and now this bitch tells me "sorry sir, your tickets are not in the proper fair class." EVEN tho I confirmed with someone last night they were fine. So she says for $150 they can change the fair class and upgrade the seats, so before I say "ok" she transfers me to someone to check the upgrade and this woman now says "no, it has to be a Q class to upgrade."

I get transferred back and the same lady goes "oh sorry, we do make mistakes." REALLY WHORE? you would of just cost me $300 for your mistake

How can an airline not have their shit together and who the fuck cares about what class it is. ive never had so many problems with one shitty airline before in my life with basic shit. then they close out almost all the seats for "premium" which makes only middle seats available.

Agreed.

I do not care for the way Delta does things. I have always used NorthWest but the change over has not been smooth by any means. Once big fucking nightmare.

Delta blows. Most do, I wish Southwest flew a few more places.

I heard about that merger, going to suck for NW.

Ive always been a fan of US Airways myself. Their planes aren't as new and for some reason, they took out the tv's in the flights

Delta is awesome. Their planes, flight staff and customer service suck but those little Delta cookies are the shit!

i just flew with them to LA, pretty decent IMO. United seems like they still use the same seats from 1964 in their planes

To play with the big boys of fliers you always check what class you're booked in.

Only full fare tickets are upgradable (as a general rule of thumb, there are exceptions) so whatever class you book, economy, business or first, make sure that it's a full fare ticket. Discounted seats are sorted out by having other fare codes. Airlines are not stupid, it's a business. Just like people here lure surfers to sign up, airlines lure customers into thinking the can get a first class seat by purchasing a discounted economy ticket and then use some miles to upgrade. It's all about getting every last dollar worth out of you as a customer.

NWA is entering my do not fly list I guess. Delta is among the worst I have flown. I wish Virgin flew more places.

I love Virgin flights! It's nice to start off with Mr. Branson himself on the inflight TV set welcoming you aboard and personally thanking you for choosing Virgin today. I like it, and all the red seats and the little red uniforms are quite nice too.

They ALL blow. Delta has left me stranded in Atlanta for 2 days and didn't even pay for my hotel/food! But they have the comfiest seats and a little tv in every seat so I like that..
But SOUTHWEST blows even harder and UNITED SUCKS ASS.. so whatcha gna do? Drive?

the only way is with a private jet. airfare prices are so cheap now that they have to resort to not focusing on customer service, but making sure they fill flights.

when i fly next to someone who is a veteran flyer, its crazy to hear some of the stories they have especially about how great the staff is. ive been on some really shitty flights including one about 3 years ago I was flying from LA to visit my parents. all that was left was middle row seats or first class, so i bought a 1st class seat. normally i just upgrade the seats but paying 3 or 4x as much, i demand better service. the stewardess refused to serve me because my "ID looked fake."

on top of that when i sat down, she asked me to get up and verify my ticket. bought me to the front of the plane and made me stand there while she had someone check. when she got my ticket back, she said "oh ok, here" not even an "im sorry for being a bitch" or anything. during the flight it was a battle to get anything from her, including dinner. i was livid the whole time

i ended up disputing the charge of that leg of the flight with Amex and actually won...

ive worked for us airways keep in mind they are a low class carrier so you get what you get but I took pride in cincinnati we had a 95% on time rate constantly.. delta will suck even worse and NWA is now fucked they took comair which use to be very nice down to shit!!!
