Who wins in my pic of the Mustang vs. Camaro?

I was at Daytona watching the NASCAR practice today and just by chance these two cars crossed
paths and I was able to snap this pic from my vantage point.

The Mustang is a Shelby GT500 and the Camaro is a HTR 800.

Two cars designed and built to compete against the other but the question begs, who would win?

And to answer your question, I know Redline makes HTR-525, HTR-600 and HTR-750, but I'm not familiar with the HTR-800. If it's anything like the HTR-750, it would dominate the Shelby in most categories (almost apples and oranges to compare the two).

not sure if redline counts the hp at the crank or the rear wheels

Actually, the HTR Camaro is an LS7 (427cu.in) producing right around 600hp

It would be a stupid comparison. That Camaro is a highly modified car with a huge cam, won't pass emissions, aftermarket headers, gears, suspension, weight reduction, light weight forged wheels, drag radials, etc..Dump enough money in modifications and any car can be made fast.

The GT500 is a bone stock factory car lol.

Oh, and FYI from the factory the Camaro is 3900lbs with an aluminum naturally aspirated motor with non-forged cast iron pistons.

The GT500 is 3920lbs with an IRON, fully forged motor with a blower, intercooler and all the supporting goodies.

It would be stupid to call them equal but to compare them would be fun. We now know the Camaro would win most stats
because it has been modified. It would have taken a keen eye to figure that out from the pic I posted so I went
ahead and stated that it was a HTR-600 so we could start from there.

For me it was a classic Chevy vs. Ford in a chance passing and this time Chevy wins ( with a little help )

Both cars were awesome but the favorite was and always will be the Camaro however if the Mustang had been a Shelby back then, well that might be different today then.

The sad thing is that I paid $700 for the Mustang in 1974 and $1700 for the Camaro in 1976, tell me wouldn't I like to have those investments today.

LOLOL, not to rag on his car because I have no clue what it is but I have a red stock mustang that is a basic little car and every place I go I get people raving about it like it is the best car ever or something. I did put some black rims on it. But when I drive my Corvette which is my bad ass car no one says anything. Go figure.
My 2001 camaro has 12K miles on it. Still my favorite

I assume you are referring to the C63 and, while the C63 is a beautiful and amazing vehicle, the HTR Camaro is a bit faster (just over a full second faster in the quarter). Personally, however, I too would take the AMG over either of these.
