Question for Canadian Webmasters

1. Has anyone got a merchant account set up in Canada or EU for adult websites subscriptions?
2. If yes how much did it cost you and who can you recommend?
thx in advance

Most likely more than you have in your piggy bank.

Which market you target ? If it's EUR, and if you let the payment processor convert it, you don't know how much you will loose ...

For a merchant account, I think it's not worthed, working with a processor is less than 10%, and you have to do nothing.

Are you currently processing with third party?

If not, good luck on that merchant account.

You can get a merchant account in the EU or US, but it will involve a deposit held by the merchant back. Somewhere around 15 to 20 K. Apart from that little hiccup it is not really difficult.

leaving 15 to 20 k with bank as deposit is insane. I am better off to get a merchant account for something generic and use it till I lose it.
I wont mind paying upto 20% billing fee but thats about it. Not planning to give money to someone upfront.

What's insane about giving a Canadian bank 15 to 20k?

I seriously doubt that getting a "generic" mechant account and using it for adult is a good idea.

You actually give it to an American bank. The generic account is Visa suicide. Pay the money, or get a ccbill account. Its not like you lose it, it sits in an account and makes interest.

Tell you what, reguser, why don't you do what the rest of us did and contact people who provide this service instead of begging for advice here and ignoring it.

weekly, I just wanted to know the $ number before contcating people who provide this service.
If it is going to cost me $$$ then to hell with it...industry is dead anyways. I dont have more time n money to waste but if the cost is not a factor then certianly i wont mind giving it a try.
