Panang Gai. That's Chicken in Panang Curry, which is a peanut sauce based curry. YUM! The authentic version of it is out of this world; the whitewashed version isn't bad either.

Yummm, thai is my favorite style of cooking.

I would reccomend pad thai, as almost everyone enjoys a good pad thai. Pad thai is noodles in a sweet and spicy sauce usually with shrimp, chicken, and egg.

Also if you like a soup starter tom ka gai is good.

I'm a huge fan of panang myself, if you're feeling a little adventurous this is also a fairly safe / universally liked dish.

Also, since it's your first time eating thai, I would suggest order mild and ask for the spice tray. Most people I know can't do thai hot.

Going here, so it is likely "American Style" and not too authentic...

http://www.thaichefusa.com/

Either way it will be the best and worst Thai food I ever had.

Looking at a few of the menus it's more east / west fusion than actual thai food. Each menu is different though, which one are you going to (If that's not TMI)?

personally when it comes to thai, I love peanut sauce!

I always start with some sort of chicken sate. A nice cucumber salad. Rice noodles are good too.

But for an entree I love this plate i can get at most local thai joints. Pahd Peanut Sauce. Cauliflower steamed and soaked in coconut milk and peanut sauce. Topped with your choice of meat(I get beef) breaded and fried. Usually some peanut and or carrot on top.

De-fuckin-licious!

Lots of other good things, but i love thats hit right there!

Try it all!
Thai cuisine is one of the most tastiest kitchens in the world.
Do avoid "really" spicy if you cannot handle that.

I would be very curious to try one of the thai ravioli dishes! But since I'm pretty sure thats prorpietary to that chain I can't really speak for it.

Doing a little digging they do have some of the more trad dished. I stand by Tom Ka Gai soup to start followed by Pad Thai or Chicken Panang for your first taste of thai.

That sounds crazy delicious. Haven't seen it around here though Maybe I'll google it and try to make it myself.

Well, thanks for all of the suggestions.

I tried many dishes, and everything was very nice.

Brought a couple of bottles of wine, since the place is a BYOB. Chilled Gewürztraminer paired off well.

The actual restaurant menu was much different that their online version.

I don't remember the names of the foods, but we had some crispy spring roll things, assorted dumplings, roasted duck rolls, green curry chicken of some sort, other stuff I don't remember the names of, all kinds of dipping sauces including a peach sauce, and Pad Thai, which was very interesting.

Took a lot of leftovers home. It was pricier than the online menu, but it was cool overall.

Yeah, I think the best thing to do is to eat a small sample of everything they got. That way you can then choose the thing you want - and eat a lot of that thing.

Bat Paste
A delightful dish, First, a live bat is forced into a vat of boiling milk. Then, once it has reached optimum malleability, the bat is sliced into fine bits, mixed with various herbs and spices and mashed into a pulpy paste.

I know it's already too late tonight, but if you go again I'd suggest going for a lunch buffet, so you can get a taste of a bunch of different dishes.
