    Whats up with toon niche?!!

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH TOON NICHE?!!

I've been drawing exclusive pics for different clients more than 8 years.
Different people bought my pics during this time period.
It was no problem finding buyers, cause I always make quality stuff.

I always setup the best price for exclusive pics.
My regular customers also get exclusive discounts.

What is the reason for tough selling of toons for the last 6 months?
    Can anyone tell me?

I still have a lot of pics for sale:

      Just my 2cents but.....

I would say your main prob is your prices.

you would be MUCH better off ditching the exclusive model and offering the content to multiple buyers for a much cheaper price, end of the day you'll make the same money or more!

It boils down to the buyers 'getting the most bang for their buck'

And in the toon market that is even more true...

When you offer 35 photo sets for $6k that's just insane, when they can buy non-exlusive content for $500 for the same amount of content.

These days people just won't pay insane prices for content, they want it cheap or they just won't buy.

Now is the time for hand drawn producers to take another look at their market and adjust to meet their customer's needs/wants/expectations.

        +1 and all that shit.

I see full sites with some income being sold at that price, and you're asking for $6000+ for just 35 sets. Not saying you don't deserve it, you have nice work there, but really don't see many chances of it happening. And as you may see yourself, it isn't happening at all, all you'll get is "nice stuff" comments, but I doubt those comments will feed anything other than your ego, so try to find a business model that works for you and work from there.

It's not a question of "is it worth it or not" the toon market has changed DRAMATICALLY over the past 10 years take the 3D Toon market for example...

in 1998 a single image was selling for $10 to even $20 each but that was pretty much only due to the fact that the content was so rare and so the price gouging was in full effect,

Now 12 years later that content is much more common and there are also more artists getting into producing the content, so these days myself and most other 3D Toon producers sell packages of 30-40 sets (30 images per set) for around $500 - $800 bucks

The same has happend with SOME of the traditional hand drawn artists, BUT the rest of them are honestly looking at their business model wrong.

They see a graphics designer sell a single toon image for upwards to $250 (for a logo) so they assume that the prices they are setting are 'so much lower then those other guys'

They totally fail to realize that they are selling something that is NOT a logo, brand, mascot or whatever else you want to call it, THOSE are a company or site's BRAND and will always cost more then actual content.

Thanks guys! I realy appriciate your comments and advice.
I'm kind of used to setting such prices because I've been selling only exclusive content ever since I started in this business, and that was because my customers wanted exclusive stuff only and were ready to part with that much money.
I guess it's really time to change my business model.
            Thanks again!
