I'm thinking of exporting all my bookmarks to Google Bookmarks - GoFuckYourself.com

It's seems having my bookmarks online is the best way to have it accessable on all my computers or wherever I go at any time without hassle

dont see how it would be trouble unless you are owrried about google seeing your stuff??

i have a copy of my bookmarks in google that i update every few weeks or so when i think about it

comes in handy if im not at my computer and need a website

I've already had mine stored there for the last 6 months.... let's say its awesome knowing that I can pick up my bookmarks ANYWHERE where I have the Google toolbar installed, plus never losing them again due to bugs in the browser.

What browser are you using? I'm pretty sure that Netscape and its more modern derivatives (ie, Firefox) store bookmarks as a straight .html file, upload that to a password protected area on your server... no need for Google to know.

I do that with some docs like to do lists, etc. Centralized cloud-based bookmarks would be great.

google offer such good services, I DO find myself exposing more and more private details of myself & business to google.... that can't be good but I still rather trade privacy for efficiency

Zester, if you are going to make your bookmarks cloud based you should think about doing passwords too. laspass.com will keep encrypted versions of your passwords on their server while allowing you to decrypt them on your machine with your main password on the fly.

I don't know why people pretend like giving Google their info ends their privacy.

Your privacy was lost long ago and if the government wants to see ANYTHING that you do, they will see it with or without any type of partnership with Google.

Remember, a lot of people on the 'inside' of telecom say that the agencies already have a big presence in all of the major data centers and are directly tapped into the pipeline.

If there is truly anything to worry about, that's what you need to be worrying about.

(enter the guys that say that they have 48 proxies, four different connections, 8840284 bit encryption and bla bla bla...to that I'd ask, why? what are you doing that is illegal?)

I completely agree. If you you are looking for some sort of privacy then don't go on the internet.
