the part where you get to fly the remote control plane and kill those dudes:

For the life of me, I can NOT get that fucking airplane off the ground!

you press X and it goes.. but not fast enough to take off.. I have tried everything!

press x to make the plane lift off and press forward to make it go forward..took me a few hunnit times to pass it but i did!

in fact,use the copters blades to kill em

You mean the RC chopper or airplane? To get the plane airborne, you have to gain some speed by pressing X on a straight level. It takes a few seconds or so...

yea i had to restart my ps2 for some reason.. i was pressing X but the plane refused to go fast enough to take off.. after i restarted it took right off
