    High-roller?s lawyers try to dismiss casino debt case

    Lawyers for a high-rolling Nebraska gambler are seeking to dismiss criminal charges in Las Vegas stemming from nearly $15 million in gambling debts, saying the district attorney has a conflict of interest and has acknowledged the gambler didn't intend to defraud the casinos.

    Lawyers for 53-year-old Terrance "Terry" Watanabe filed two motions late Friday in Clark County District Court.

    One says Watanabe didn't intend to defraud Harrah's Entertainment Inc. because he had sufficient funds to cover the 38 casino markers he took out. Another says the district attorney's office has a conflict of interest in the case because it stands to make a fee for recovering the money.

    Watanabe has pleaded not guilty to theft and bad check charges.

                      I was working a Caesars Palace when all this went down.. I had many interactions with him, and have been to his room on the 46th floor many times. He always treated me good but the casino ALWAYS kept him high and drunk.. It was put out by Harrahs corp that "You never say no to Mr Watanabe, If you do then you will be fired"

                          After $100M one would think he would start entertaining the possibility that he may have a mild gambling problem.

                          Still, it was very nice of him to donate his millions to the wealthy casino owners.

                                      That's pretty fucking gangster. If you have that much money that after 112 million you're basically like "fuck you come get the rest" ... although I don't agree with it - that's pretty ballsy.

In his room there is a safe that looks just like a walk in bank vault.. The amount of cash I saw in there was un-fucking real..! All CASH... He would walk around with a backpack with around 8-10 million in it for a nights worth of gambling... I used to say to him "Your crazy to carry around that kind of money" He would just laugh and say " It's only money, I have a lot more where that came from" I must admit he was a very nice guy and always treated me good...
