Are women too emotional to do a good job of forum whoring and affiliate management?

In an industry dominated by men, it's rare to see intelligent women who can hold their own on adult boards.

Are they too soft? Too emotional? Take things / themselves too seriously? Is it the industry?

I can count on one hand how many female regulars there are on GFY who participate in threads often, and even fewer who start threads regularly.

He was talking about female affiliate rep's now though and as an affiliate rep you have to keep a steady presence and be on top of things going on on the biggest boards(IMO). But I'd say you are right on women affiliates in general.

I don't really think board whoring and good affiliate management are the same thing. I have had many good female reps from different programs.They are usually no more or less competent than male reps, but typically more personable.

I've come across both incompetent men and women, however I must say if I am blindly hitting up a program that has a man and a woman as a contact, I'll contact the guy.

I've been in the industry now for 9 years and have seen plenty of incompetent men and women. They all have one thing in common, they were bad hires from the start. This industry tends to make more bad hires with women in my opinion, because they are hired for something else besides their brains by men (who are also thinking with something else beside their brains).

Not that the men hit on their employees, but that they think a cute or attractive girl is most of being a good sales person or client manager.

Completely my opinion and of note from my observations is that this strategy totally did work in the early days when there was plenty of traffic and sales to go around. It doesn't work any more and a lot of companies still haven't gotten that memo.

I've seen quite a few female reps get overwhelmed on the boards over the years. Usually they get a pass for a while because guys get so goofy with the idea of talking business with someone that has tits. After a while though they get called out for something they or their company has done and many get flustered when the flirty approach doesn't work anymore.

chicks are not as good as men when it comes to business and thats final. they think with their emotions and it makes them sidetracked. anytime you tell them they are doing anything negative they take it personally instead of fixing it. like they cannot do any wrong.

I think I have pretty much held my own on the boards as well as as a Rep and an Affiliate, I am probably one of the few women that has at one point or another been all of these things. I have been content, I have been an affiliate, I have run or tried just about every kind of site there is to try.

My favorite position to hold in this industry is with the Affiliates I work for... and yes, I work for them... I love people and I love getting to know them, so of course I am a little more personable (or try to be) than most... but it is because I love dealing with people so much. THIS makes me a damn good Rep... lol

I find two things when dealing with SOME women, not all, but the ones that do it really stick out and get all of the "categorical" names pinned on those of us that don't do it.

1) They either try and use their sexuality to get what they want

or

2) They are extra specially hard to contend with and bitchy because they think they have something to prove.
