    Anyone been to Cancun Mexico _ i need advice

    I am looking to go next month cause my city is going to be nuts because of the Olympics and especially where i live in downtown its gonna be unbearable .

    I am looking to go Cancun Mexico , I am looking for area with tons of shopping , restaurants , nite life , just lots of shit to do in general . (Touristy area)

              funny, i had planned to do the same thing to escape the olympics/paralympics. but, a bunch of people (family/friends) really wanted to come up and stay, and not being local, didn't understand why we wanted to get the hell out of here. oh well, now we have tickets to luge and womens downhill, some tickets to one of the awards events, and a shitload of food so we don't have to go outside at all beyond that lol.
              we'll miss you our friend. RIP

                          That hotel is nice and close to everything.. ME is very nice as well but a bit more pricy. If money is not an issue then RIU palace is a great place to go. all of these are within walking distance of the shopping and a short ride away is a nice mall to check out as well.

                                  so its gonna be way too annoying here . Like they are closing the
                                  8 streets downtown one them including mine.

                                              i also know that fish tacos are good enough to take a cab ride back to town just to get some more..buy some fish tacos off a road side stand

                                                  Stay one of the palace resorts like the Cancun Palace, all you can eat, all you can drink included. Don't worry about the location they have buses and shuttles that take you everywhere.

                                                      We stayed at the Hilton at the south end of the Hotel Zone not too long ago. They have nice little bungalows right on the beach, and the bus ride to the main touristy area is only a 5 minute ride... and it's nice and quiet at the Hilton. Seven pools, swim up bar, white sand beach...

                                                          I have stayed at the grand oasis 3 times. and loved each time. it is like 3-4 hotels in 1 and grand you can access each one but they cannot access yours.

                                                          so if one swim up bar is packed you just go onto the next.

                                                          Cancun is fucking amazing. and if you are down to party hit up the club crawl. you drop like $60 all you can drink and give some mexicasa $20 to take care of you all night. these lil beaners will ship you off drinks on the dancefloor even.

                                                          make sure you stay on the BEACH OCEAN and not the lagoon.

                                                          i heard ME is also good. if you are looking to party i am telling you Grand Oasis is the spot. lots of young people having a good time. they did the show "Real World Cancun" they stayed at the ME but were always partying at Grand Oasis.

                                                          that is just my 2 cents.

                                                                  Honestly stay at the Grand it is good because the hotel is away from all the college kids who stay in the Oasis Cancun but if you want to go party with the younger crowd you can. you end up with the best of both worlds.

                                                                  i have tooken 3 diff chicks there and each of them loved it. rooms were clean etc. etc. and you have to love being fucking knocked off at 4am ordering a burger and hearing a knock passed the fuck out with free room service.

                                                                  all i do is drink my face off there im gettin a fuckin boner looking back on it.

                                                                      There really is not much of a CROWD going on here even now in the high season..

                                                                      The one club I would say not to miss is CoCo Bongo. Its pricey but all drinks are included.

                                                                          I was in Cancun (from vancouver as well) about 2 years ago we stayed in the Riu Palace.. it's a great place and if you're a hardcore drink (I'm not) you will absolutely love it.. but for some reason I feel bad for the people in mexico. I just got back from a 2 week trip to hawaii and I much prefer hawaii to cancun..

                                                                          Riu Palace was a very nice hotel though, the food was really good.. Make sure you swim with the dolphins, and unless you're a big history buff don't bother with the trip out to the ruins.

                                                                              I would go to Playa Del Carmin, just about 30 minutes south... Look into it. See what you think. I think it's a real cool area.

                                                                                                          heh, i live *in* an olympic venue, i'm right at the base of the mountain in creekside. we have tickets to the downhill (as well as the luge), but the finish line is literally 100 feet from my patio. we need to wear security passes just to go outside, it's just insane. we could watch it on the bigscreen as we watch them pass the finish line just outside through the windows/patio. but... i guess we will take the lame temporary chairlift up to the spectator area, as i've got the tickets, and a bunch of people coming up and are all stoked to see it from there. personally, i can't wait for all this hype to finally be over with.

                                                                                                                  Riu Cancun. It is right in the heart of the hotel district. Great newer hotel in that it was built in the last five years or so. You can walk to the City, Cocobongos etc. The big shopping center is a long walk or short cab ride away. They do the tours to Xelha, Chichen Itza etc. I have stayed there 3 times so yeah i can say i like it.

                                                                                                                                  You don't need a car unless you plan on going out of Cancun and they have taxi's for that. They have buses that run all day and almost all night.

                                                                                                                                  I will say this. During the day go exploring. Chen Itza , Tulum, etc...

I spent the past couple weeks in Merida and some people said it's a great festival and others said it's just noisy and boring. Was thinking about going back for it but I'm not sure if it's something special or not.

                                                                                                                                                              because at night you can be away from it if you choose to and it is only a walk away. some nights the loudness can be much and it is good to be able to sleep in a quiet area. but when you are in party mode you can walk on over to the other side.

                                                                                                                                                              basically you get best of both worlds is what i am saying.

                                                                                                                                                              you can party with the college crowd and relax like an adult.
