And one of the best parts of the ruling is that they used the owner of ISOHunts own ramblings from his blogs as evidence that he KNEW what he was doing the whole time. Of course we all were aware of it, but by running his dick sippers he nailed his own coffin with his "arguments" about his rights to other peoples copywritten content.

Probably some of the same drivel that gideongallery cuts and pastes for his "facts" lol

It's not that important in case of isohunt then, because they're based in Canada. Let's wait and see how their Canadian cases develop.

You realize that ISO hunt is just a search engine and even the full take down is not going to help? the files will still be there on the original tracker.

I think it is important. In my opinion it's another case against piracy. Like a house of cards coming down. Too much money at stake and too many people getting hurt in mainstream. I see the ISO Hunt case as being pretty big because a judge is actually saying: No, you can't hide behind safe harbour anymore when you are bragging about stealing shit on your blog. You KNOW exactly what you're doing

Picking on the search engine is not the way to go. Your hoping this leads to what? Sites like Free6 and Pichunter get taken down?

Why would pichunter or any of my own tgp's get taken down because ISOHunt is linking up stolen content?

What I want to see from this is what is going to happen: Thieves finally having a reason to NOT steal other people's work. And if you really believe that ISOHunt is just an innocent search engine...then I can sell you some nice swampland too.

That guys knows EXACTLY what he's doing and how he's making his money. If it's such a great search engine as you are insinuating then he shouldn't have any problem at all with all piracy being stopped. People will still be coming there to "search" for stuff that isn't stolen, right? After all, stolen shit isn't his bread and butter now is it? lol

Oh, but let's don't pick on the poor "search engine" guys who have nothing but links to stolen shit.

I do agree that a legit search engine like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. that actually have the overwhelming 99.99% of their links going to legit stuff should be okay. Especially since they can and do remove links when you tell them.

But guys who actually started their so-called "search engines" specifically and exclusively to make money off of stolen stuff are nothing but common thieves.

Obviously stopping the places where most average surfers look for this kind of things is step one. Step two in torrents is gonna be the legislation that is coming. Too much money lost in mainstream over this for it to continue. And when the dust finally settles...then people can make money again.

One thing is for sure...just the thought of somebody monetizing my content for themselves makes me extremely pissed. I could give two shits if people "steal" the content. It's the thought of them turning around and simultaneously destroying the content producers income by giving it away for free AND making money off the traffic it generates. As far as I'm concerned every one of these "search engines" and forums that are nothing but links to torrents should be closed down.

Yes, I agree with the shutting down of the bit torrent sites as a first step, but the technology is evolving at a quick pace. The magnet links in particular are decentralized -

Magnet links are a new way of linking torrent files. Instead of downloading the torrent from a webserver, you download it directly from a seed/leecher. The biggest advantage is that you might be able to download the content of the torrent, even if the tracker is down or closed for registration.

I guess that a drm solution would be the best bet for exclusive content that needs to be protected ie Claudia-Marie's content.
It's a tough time to be in a position like you are...trying to prevent saturation of a valuable asset. I tip my hat to you.
