mac and CuteFTP + Perl files - help!

Help!

I am using CuteFTP with various editors on a Mac, and no matter what I do, perl (.pl) files stop running once I upload them. The file format is ascii and the syntax of the files do not seem to have changed. If I upload from my PC they work perfectly but not from my mac. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Make sure that the files are indeed being uploaded in ASCII format, and make sure CuteFTP is not 'defaulting' to a binary upload. I went thru this issue about a month ago, and it can be frustrating to track down.

I have dreamweaver but don't really know how to use it yet. I've always been a "notepad" kind of guy.

I'm used to cuteFTP and am happy with it so I really don't want to change but will if I have to.

Btw: I have no problems editing other file formats such as HTML and PHP. Only .pl files are giving me the headache.

Checked this already - Files are definitely ascii, and its not sending in binary. These were the first things I checked.
