clips 4 sale - worth it or not?

If any of you have read this thread you know I am trying to put some funds together (approx 10K) to move from Vancouver to Toronto. I had an email suggesting using clips 4 sale to make some extra $$, but is it really worth setting up a store? Some say yes you can pull an extra $500 - $1000 per month, other say it's a waste of time and I will not see any sales from this type of site.

Can anyone give me some feedback on sites such as Clips 4 Sale and wether or not they are a viable source of income?

That is not to say that we wont be doing this, probably just waiting until we have nothing better to do

You can monetize some of the inhouse traffic, but you're facing competition from companies that have very loyal and dedicated buyers, so to really make money from it, you're going to need to bring your own traffic...that said, there can be some money made from the site for sure...but you'd also better know your niche well if you want repeat buyers...this isn't the buy a membership and forget to cancel crowd....

That said, there is a method to working a clip store few on GFY seem to have figured out. Also, some fetish and niche will do better than mainstream. Clips.com is going to probably be better for that.

If you think working, and I use that term loosely since 95% of the time is uploading, and compression done without you sitting at a computer, maybe 30 minutes a day for an extra $500/1000+ a month is too much work, then yes. It is not worth it.

However, I can assure you most of the haters on clips stores have never run one long term, and are talking out of their asses. It's free money, and requires minimal work. However, they are not for everyone. Especially old timers who do not want to learn new tricks.

Your not going to make 10K over night. Build up the Clips4sale store, it'll take some time, but in the future you might be able to avoid needing cash so bad. For now plan out your move to include shoots on the way. Hit up all the producers in Canada.

Clips4sale is easy to setup a store... But like forestated, it gonna take time to build a fanbase unless u sending ur own traffic... But i simply made a store about 2 months ago and got two decent $100 checks... And thats for simply opening up the store.. i do no promoting of it...

when i first started shooting i used clips4sale before i had billing companies etc. so long as you upload a new clip daily to keep their frontpage traffic coming in you can at least pay your rent/mortgage/car with it. if you film some really bizarre fuckedup shit i have a feeling you'll probably make more money with it. but vanilla sells on their too so long as its fresh. i haven't made no "decent" checks with clips4sale but once things cool off, and my fresh content has been on the paysite for some time then i will recycle it to the clips stores. i dont wanna put my fresh shit up for sale, let the paying members have it, then the general public who doesn't wanna buy a sub can get their favorite girl or whatever bit by bit... but like a year or so later. like tv syndication

Well, I would disagree with you that it is 'minimal work', like 30 minutes a day. The majority of the time IS spent on uploading, true, but an enormous amount of time is spent updating the stores, and scheduling updates so they run once an hour. Now, if you have your own traffic and don't give a shit about being on the front page of C4S every hour then go for it. But writing the descriptions, adding all the little info, setting the schedules...it takes a lot of time.

If course, maybe C4S has made all this easier since I had five or six stores on there last year. Good luck either way! But hey, if you're looking for 'fast cash' AND you're moving, how about.....

After you drag and drop the clips from one side of the FTP client to the other and go to bed for the night. What part are you actually 'working' on? Same can be said for compression. Once you drag the 12 video from your computer folder into the program, set up the presets, and hit squeeze before heading off to watch the game....

When my machine is uploading, or compressing video... ya know... things I do not have to sit there for. I do not consider that 'me' working. That is the computer doing the work.

That said, most people are not 'gaming' six clip stores doing that one hour thing on a daily basis. They would be better served focusing on doing submits (and typically already do), forum posts, tube submits, among other things, to drive traffic to their store that is a lot more effective and productive use of their time, and generate better sales.

Vancouver is a pretty dry market, and I have had alot of work offered in Toronto and Montreal. I also have my website with a Montreal based company and my husband will be shooting content for them and working on expansion projects as well. Overall its a business move.

We have never worked with Clips4Sale but have heard only good things about them.

I am not sure, but I think you are allowed to watermark your own videos with your own website name. If this is true, then you should take advantage of this as well. Watermark then upload any niche videos you have to the correct niche categories. Enjoy the money you make from c4s AND enjoy the new traffic too.

Dude, don't be a dousche. I said SCHEDULING, and I just did one again to 'test it' and I'll go over it in a second. Uploading is NOT what I'm talking about. Despite your 'opinions', I am NOT an idiot so yes I can drag-and-drop an ftp file. Your tone, of course, reeks of douschebag-ery, but putting that aside for a moment:

Even WITH 'pre-typed' descriptions, you have to enter the date, and the time you want the clip to appear, plus select the image, then select the video (after you've uploaded it), then choose the time of the clip, the price, etc etc fucking etcetera.

Now maybe you can breeze through this in 30 seconds, maybe a minute (and I type 110 words per minute, dousche). Now I hit 'submit' and it takes.....1 minute and thirteen seconds for C4S to re-fresh the page, indicating this was a successful add to my store. Great! That's a single clip, which will appear for 1 hour on their homepage, which will bring me an approximate 50-100 visits to the store. If I want the above to repeat I have to do all of the above steps again. Now, if I want to schedule, say, a week's updates at once, since it gets old REAL fast to do the above every fucking day, then it can take...drum roll please...fucking HOURS.

Net income? What, a few hundred bucks? Not worth it when that same time can be spent doing other tasks that bring me more moolah.

But here's the Best Part of my whole 'you're a douschebag with your tone' tirade: I said it was not worth it in my opinion. Apparently, you have problems with other people's opinions, and always think yours is right and you're the smartest guy in the room.

Any quick read of any of your posts dismisses these delusions instantaneously.

My experience with clips4sale has been good. They are good folks. However, it is difficult to say if it will be worth anyone's time to open a store. I have had four stores. One of my stores is usually at the number one spot on the 50 list, making excellent money. It is worth my time and then some. The second store was wishy washy and not worth my time, the third store hits the 50 list and pays off whenever it is updated, the fourth store was a complete and utter waste of time. It is hard to say if it will be profitable for you but worth a couple of hours to set it up and see.

Not worth my time ....

The only stuff that wil sell is some " extreme " stuff, but if you comply to their TOS , you cannot upload that ... catch 22 ...
