No decrease in illegal downloading, says BPI
Will this ever end !!!
The number of people downloading music illegally is not decreasing, despite the availability of new legal services, according to a music industry research. A survey for The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) revealed one in three consumers are using illegal sites. BPI chief executive Geoff Taylor said the findings were "disappointing" and expressed concern at a rise in illegal downloads from blogs and newsgroups. More than 3,000 people aged between 16 and 54 took part in the online poll. Full story here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8420484.stm |

What I find funny is that there are huge media corporations providing facilities for the downloaders to get music without having to pay for it. It's not helping the cause
![]() One company I'm thinking of has "30 million active users", with the ability to get the free downloads any time they want. I reckon they should try and close those avenues too ![]() |

Good, maybe record labels and music industry will wake up. They have been raping the artists and consumers for years. Their days of trying to sell albums for $15-20 a pop is bullshit and is coming to an end.
Bands don't see a dime from record sales anyway. It all goes to the record label and the suits. If you know anyone in a band, ask em. All their money comes from ticket sales & the swag they sell at the shows/online. You want to help a band you like? Buying their CD won't put a penny in their pocket. Go to one of their concerts and buy a shirt. Fuck major record labels.

There is no way this will ever slow, its only going to get worse. You don't even need a P2P program just type in "Artist + rapidshare" and you'll have a link to download everything in seconds. People would download a car for free if they could. Pirates will always pillage.

It's the same as in porn; why pay for a shitty CD if there is anything for free on the net?
They'll have to adapt too and i don't talk about a fucking copy protection... |

It's never going to stop, nor should it, nor should you think it would.
People, industries, labels, etc. need to evolve with the changing times or get left behind. Period. |

1 in 3, fuck that, 1 in 2 probably all of the people in this thread have downloaded illegally once or twice if not all the time. It's not fucking going anywhere obviously. I used to pirate hiphop mixtapes and albums years ago in like 2002 with userv off my own computer and roadrunner internet connection, AND accepted donations which I got quiet often. Nothing happened to me, it's not going to go away, how could anyone think something like this could be stopped? Wow..

There was a thread with members here (myself included) who mentioned that they downloaded the wolverine movie when the workprint version was leaked.

That workprint sucked balls. Watching it ruined a movie for me that probably would have been awesome in theater. Anyone who watched it screwed themselves anyways.
