"what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" is such an accurate lil saying. much as you feel like something is working against you, there is definitely something working equally as hard for you or you wouldn't be alive. the angel on the one shoulder must have kicked the shit out of the devil on the other :winkwink: great read and i agree that you should write a book and sell the movie rights.

ShellyCrash 12-27-2009 09:41 PM

South Georgia really is the worst. I've had two friends, ironically they're sisters who were busted at different times, get put through the ringer in SO GA.

One was in Tifton (sp?) county and I don't remember the other small town. Tifton I remember because I had to bail her out. Both times they had to spend time behind bars, both times bail was insanely high, and both cases resolved in a phone call which pretty much said in so many words let us keep the bail money and we can forget about this whole mess.

I don't even know how that shit is legal. One of them was pulled over for speeding alone- no drugs in the car what-so-ever. How does speeding, what should amount to a ticket, turn into jail time?

I go up and down the east coast fairly often, on the way back as soon as I get south of Atlanta I drop that bitch down to the speed limit and white knuckle it until I'm back in my home state of FL.

When you look at it though, as much shit as you've been stuck with, it's not a total raw deal because shit could always be worse. Imagine if they had caught you dealing? In a way it's almost lucky, it only takes one person you sell to getting pulled over, too pussy to take the posession charge on the knuckles, and rolling over on you. It sounds strange, but it's almost like a ballance, like a karmic give and take.

Very cool to read something with so much honesty, I applaud you for that. Hopefully when the cast comes off in 2010 you'll get a fresh start. Best of luck to you.

Spunky 12-27-2009 10:09 PM

Interesting read man, you've had an eventful life so far

GT-Omar 12-27-2009 10:13 PM

Great read Jay! There was once a saying I heard that said "I love Atlanta, but the only bad thing about this city is once you drive 20 minutes in any direction. You're in GA :("

Hope 2010 breaks the unlucky streak and you can focus more on personal growth and happiness. That's my plan at least, and btw the boy's at they high lander say hi ;)

L-Pink 12-27-2009 10:15 PM

You're a damn fine writer.

Because a ticket is a courtesy. They dont have to issue one, you can be arrested instead.

Amazing how many people have no clue about that.

Yep. A ticket is essentially the same as getting arrested they have just decided that the crime is so small they aren't going to bother hauling you in and booking you for a small fine. So they give you a ticket. You can choose to pay it or go to court and fight it.

VikingMan 12-27-2009 10:49 PM

Awesome read Jay:thumbsup

The true character of a person is measured by what they do with the shitty things life throw at them and how they come out on the other end. Keep that hairy chin of yours up Sparta!

corvette 12-27-2009 11:08 PM

great read jay

tiger 12-28-2009 01:09 AM

Damn crazy story jay.

Mutt 12-28-2009 02:15 AM

I read the drug arrest prison story on your blog years ago - it was a great piece of writing, much longer and better.

post a link to that if u still have it.

SmokenCess 12-28-2009 02:55 AM

Yeah man, here it is in order, all 3 parts. I condensed it for public consumption:
http://offensiveseo.com/the-good-old-boy-network/
http://offensiveseo.com/part-2-march...son-boot-camp/
http://offensiveseo.com/part-iii-soperton-strikes-back/

Because I didn't think people would want to read that much.

That much text makes in a giant google bomb for people searching for information about that county.

Now that they can't do anything to me, it's the little bit of revenge that I do get.

themadwriter 12-28-2009 05:00 AM

i feel your pain jay and am glad that for the most part everything seemed to work itself out for the best!!! Hope your foot heals soon!

kane 12-28-2009 05:07 AM

It kind of looks like you have come full circle. The broken foot at the start of all this and now again at the end of it. hopefully it is a sign that things are changing and you are leaving that part of your life behind for good.

On another note though. have you ever seen anyone about your social anxiety. I don't mean in the way of having them put you on an anti-depressant or anything like that. But maybe a therapist could help you find the root of your social anxiety so you could deal with in a better way than drinking.

just a thought.

Good read though.

NetHorse 12-28-2009 05:28 AM

anybody who has the time, and if you're reading GFY you do have the time, read those, it's a good read. would make a good book and movie.

Once your foot starts to get better you should get into yoga. Bikram hot yoga specifically will kick your ass into shape. Your bones will strengthen and the stronger muscles / stabilizer muscles, etc. will hold your body together better, and the more important part you'll become much much less anxious, and much more social. Bikram hot yoga is a group yoga in a hot room. Any fears you have of seeming silly or not knowing what your doing, you learn to get rid of very quickly, and the best time to go is when you don't want to.

I would love to read it

Any of us with a few decades of partying under our belt have drug induced stories to share, its up to us to pull ourw4lves up out the gutter and clean ourselves up. not qwither away until you pull the trigger one day out of misery.

baby, you need to go see a witch doctor and get yourself a "cleanse" ;)

MrMaxwell 12-28-2009 07:35 AM

I don't know how you had the balls to not just "get the fuck out of the states and stay the fuck out of the states".... you having the iron pants to actually continue living here through all of that impresses me more than anything .

Wow, I thought I was the only one with a fucked up past. Kudos to you for moving on and continuing to live YOUR life! My life slowed down a bit once I had a son, but I do plan on writing a book myself...similar, yet different stories.

he killed himself because his body and mobility was going - it's called old age.

he just decided to kill himself before his quality of life was shit, which is admirable in my eyes. no point in being a martyr.

was nice when you were gone. not so idiotic. idiot.

South, GA operates in a cowboy style law-vacume. I will never set foot in tha god forsaken stretch of land again.

96ukssob 12-28-2009 11:10 AM

thats pretty crazy man. honestly, good for you for taking a chance instead of sitting at home to wait out the 10 years.

ive heard horror stories from friends when they went to the south, I will NEVER step foot anywhere near there for those reasons.

Spankys Teens 12-28-2009 11:25 AM

It is probably the best blog I ever wrote.

Great blog post and well worth the read. You're one of the board characters I haven't had the pleasure of meeting, but am positive you'd be fun to talk to.

Does the broken foot incident make you feel like you might have gone full circle? Must run a real number on anxiety...

Platinumpimp 12-28-2009 12:03 PM

I just finish reading it. Damn what a story man!

shermo 12-28-2009 12:06 PM

Excellent read Jay and I'm sorry you've had to go through all of this...However, if you take what you've gone through, learn from it and move forward, you'll only be a stronger person.

My life was nothing like yours (with the jail, legal troubles, etc), but I did battle the drink a bit...Like you, it was for social anxiety. Keep your head up and keep pushing on. CHeers to good things in 2010!

P.S. Great read!

I was in a kind of similar situation when I moved to LA. I was being investigated on a supposed laundry list of felony counts related to some BS internet crime I committed (for the record, there was no crime, just some liar who claims I never sent them something they paid for, which they didnt pay for). I couldn't be held on anything until they completed the investigation, but I was told by my attorney as well as the police NOT to leave the area... 3 weeks later I was driving across country to move to Los Angeles which was the BEST decision I ever made.

took 2 years until they finally realized I did nothing wrong, but just some small town police department trying to pull off something big and failed right in their face

JFK 12-28-2009 12:25 PM

But I like the way Shirley thinks... you get lemons, make the best damn lemonade you can:thumbsup

great read.

Been through dirty cops myself - fuckin sucks

" I suffer from a form of social anxiety. I am a very quiet and shy person naturally, it takes some alcohol to bring be out of my shell. When I am sober, even the most mundane of social scenarios make me nervous and fidgety. If you know me, that may seem ridiculous, but it’s true."

I get that. When I haven't been to a show in a long time I get huge anxiety before I meet with people.

My grandma had TB 2X in her life and lived to 89. Thank God it wasn't Aids. You'll get past the TB thing.

bones break, viruses run their course.

Just happy to hear it sounds like you'll be ok!

Odie 12-28-2009 01:38 PM

so glad that you got it all out. Thankfully, I'm one of the few who've taken the time to listen and get to hear it striaght from the horses mouth.

Feel better Jay. Miss you tons and take care of that foot! The bones in your feet take 6 times longer to heal than any other bones in your body..but you know that ..

See you in a couple weeks! xoxo

It would be interesting to read more about the Adult Business, more details on how you started, your experience, etc...
