A Question about .FLV Movie Previews vs. .MOV or .WMV

I assume that the surfers are loving it, seems like every paysite nowadays has it all in flash. But does it convert better? I always thought that surfers preferred the quality of source video, ie .mov and .wmv files. To see the real quality they would get in the members area? thoughtz?

i would much prefer HD over 480. I was actually cropping my movies for a time, I thought that it was annoying to have to resize video, and since about 1/2 the net it seems, is still on 1024x768, thought I was doing them the favor. I am going to 720 p because I am a fetishist, I do it because it's beautiful. And other footies should have the best imho

You can do both, flv preview, and then links below it to higher quality .mp4 or .wmv...

i don't believe flv is necessarily of any poorer quality than WMV or MOV and should offer a comparable quality if similar encoding parameters are used. FLV's are normally encoded for smaller file size which translates to lower quality.

Yes, that is very true. My fear is that the majority of users out there do not know this, or perhaps there are more tech savvy surfers in the market now...

yes, the is the encode of the video in my members area. It's an amazing codec imho .m4v is nice too

flash can be as good as wmv... I usually always have a wmv link below said flash video unless the system is protecting their content, then no wmv to be had at all.

You can encode flash just fine into just as big and quality as wmv. The difference is insignificant.

What are you using to encode?

Youtube HD is flash video, and if you want to see how good it can be, check out the Muppets Bohemian Rhapsody. It proves that quality doesn't automatically mean better on MOV or WMV etc.

Why? The quality is fantastic when encoded right, and the viewers will easily be able to see it without messing around.

That said ... FLV downloaders are very common now for Firefox and Chrome etc. So there's one bad thing. But MOV and AVI is downloadable too.
