Core2 E7500 vs Core2 Quad Q8200

Why does the Core2 have up to 6mb cache while the Core2 quad only has 2x2 4mb "shared"?
What's this about the I7 being so much better since the processors I guess can communicate directly, without going through the system bus?? Is that a big deal? Sounds like a big deal, to me.

intel's chips are so confusing now, you would think the numbering would help out but they dont. People see the word Quad and automatically think its better. But if your software (videos editting, games, CAD apps, etc.) you're using does not support Quad core then its just going to waste. If you're going to be gaming then the E7500 is better. At the end of the day, good ram will make up for any downfall.

personal expereince: pulled a dualcore quad q9300 chip set and replaced it with i7 950 chip set.... mother fucking HUGE difference.. so I'll say it's a REAL big deal

FYI: also with hyper threading the i7 reads as an 8 core in the performance tab...

If I disable hyperthreading on an I7.. would the cores still be able to communicate with eachother on chip?
