    Apple iphone switching carriers Jan 2010

    The famous iphone is no longer with AT&T they will be with a new carrier January 1st 2010
    with a new and greatly improved iphone.

    ATT&T sucks. They charge too much for each application. The new carrier will not charge for each individual application or special features.
    They will offer one those "everything" Plans.

    Anyone want to take a stab and guess who the new Cell carrier will be Jan 1st 2010 ?

                          Wouldn't it have to be another GSM network which uses SIM cards?

                          That may rule out Sprint and Verizon, this may be inaccurate though..

                                          three... the contract is not up with AT&T until June 2010. Tmobile would be the ONLY available other carrier since the iPhone is sim card based unlike sprint and verizon.

                                                  damn I got all excited... lame at&t doesnt even have tethering available yet and its gonna cost $30 more on top of the $30 data package .. oh and a lovely $15 extra for 1500 txt msgs.. the nickel and diming from this company on top of all the dropped calls and bad reception where I live is unreal.

                                                              My Verizon phone has a SIM card in it. Once in a while the SIM will kick in when I lose my normal signal. I always thought that was weird.

                                                                      Whatever carrier it is after a substantial amount of iPhone users switch or new iPhone users sign up that network will also start experiencing problems.

                                                                      I forget the exact % but iPhone users consume 60% more inet than any other phone users. So as the # of subscribers climb even the largest network will start getting taxed and before you know it that one-fee-for-everything plan will either start having the same issues as AT&T or they will switch to a pay-for-service model which is what AT&T is considering.

                                                                      Btw, if AT&T switched to that you would see their level of service improve dramatically as well because of current over consumption.

                                                                              it will be on verizon later next year, just cuz they dont have a CDMA phone out now doesnt mean they cant make it. However it'll most likely be released on Verizon's LTE network. Verizon will charge you extra for using WIFI and bluetooth and for every thing else they can.

                                                                                  Same thing is happening in the UK now that the initial single network exclusivity deal has ended.

                                                                                  There's even one of the supermarket networks got it available now.

                                                                                  I think it's available from 3 providers now with a fourth to follow early next year.
