Google is "omnivorous" when it comes to their content/data policy. Not my word choice, it actually came from one of their higher ups.

Sometimes I don't understand Google.

I start a mainstream blogazine on Thanksgiving thinking "it'll take a year to get it into Google News."

I went ahead and applied to be included last week for shits and giggles. Approved and already showing up in News searches.

I also think that being included instantly kicked me out of the sandbox...organic Google traffic (not from the news site -- that is tracked separately) increased 10x the same day I got the acceptance email. That's just a theory though.
