Do you ever watch those house hunting shows?

The young newlyweds always want a three-bedroom/two bathroom house with plenty of space that is affordable. Then they sigh at the prices.

    Always makes me laugh.

      Yes I do.

I love their complaints about the color of paint, no gas range, and talk of knocking out walls.

Yes, I think it's funny how every single one of them is going to do massive remodeling.

Overall, I just think it's funny that a newlywed couple in their mid-20s wants a large family home. It's as if it doesn't even dawn on them that they can always buy a house later as their family grows.

I watch International House Hunters sometimes. Funny people with too much money who want an American style McMansion with no character in places like Costa Rica. Ugh.

Yep. That always makes me laugh. The gas range complaint is a common one. Followed by, no hardwoods. But the nonchalant talk of knocking down walls also makes me LOL.

The only thing funnier to me about 'some' of those couples is the nitpicking about trivial bullshit like paint, or minor shit like appliances. You're spending $500k on a house in San Diego, and you are bitching about something that would take around $1500.00 to replace in regards to appliances.

My guess is the producers tell them to bitch about everything.

Oh wait, there is one thing funnier that came to mind that I recall in one episode. The overly talkative husband who tours or looks at a house without the wife and loves EVERYTHING about the house. No matter how shitty. He has a comment about everything, and how great it would be.

                    Oh wait, a few more....

                    1. The parental kid concerns in regards to staircases they are going to be doing high wire acrobatics from. The pools they are going to be making a b-line for at 9 months, apparently with no supervision, among many other kid examples.

                    2. The dog, cat, or animal's approval in the buying process.

                    3. All the parties they are going to be entertaining. Whether domestic, or abroad.

My mom watches these shows all the time so anytime I go to visit her they are on. I have probably seen about 5-6 episodes of it now and it seems like people are just dumb.

What amazes me is when they set a price and won't go over it. One couple set their price at 300K. the owner of the house told them he would take no less than 310K. They said, "we won't be able to afford it." The realtor tells them, " That 10K is going increase your payment by about $20 a month." They still claimed they couldn't afford it.

If you are buying a 300K house and can't afford an extra $20 a month, you can't afford a 300K house.

That and like others here say where they nit pick about little cheap things in big houses.

I disagree. Budgets need to be set and you need to stay within the budget. If something is over budget, go find a new house... there are plenty available.

I get frustrated because I have nothing in common with the buyers... Everyone seems so naive and their approach to real estate is the opposite of mine.

We joked about filming a pilot about how we shop for property... Just have to get our realtor on board.
