You know back in 1950's Iran had a secular freely elected head of state. Women had more rights and didn't have to dress all covered up and could hold jobs etc etc. Then the CIA with the full knowledge approval of Eisenhower and help of the MI-5 orchestrated a coup because the Iranian government wanted to nationize the oil companies. The reason for nationizing is that he wanted to renegotiate the deal Iran had with the Brittish and American oil companies because they were getting 90% of the money and Iran was only getting 10%. It was only AFTER the oil companies said no did he attempt to nationalize the oil companies.
After the coup the Shah took over which led 2 decade of loss of freedom and reforms many innocent people were jailed/tortured/murdered by the government. This led directly to the Islamic revolution of the 1970's and the Shah fled to the US. Of course we refused to send him back to Iran who resquested his return to face justice. Then the Shah died of cancer so he couldn't face justice and next thing you know Iran hostage crisis and Iran is taken over by Islamic extremists who still control the country today.
So at the end of the day it was the US who started all this shit because we wanted Iran's oil. And yet everyone else is the bad guy and we are the "victims"
