Of course I have my own hosting... but I'd rather use someone elses bandwidth and more importantly FTPing+typing the URL is too much of a hassle.

one that could resize on the fly would be great too (ie. set a max image size and have it automatically reduce the filesize of any file you upload)

I don't know but if BW is an issue from images for any webmaster I think there is bigger issues. (Killswitch you didn't say BW as a reason but it was listed above)

Remember Pussyserver crying that hotlinking in a gfy thread was crumbling his server..rofl fucking funny.

Nah I haven't used one in years, I always got FTP open so its basic to drag and drop an image and then type the url to it (fast as I could get to an image host or anywhere else)

I guess another reason could be that one didn't want to have to worry about copyright potential issues that you would if you use your own server

Not really a bandwidth issue, if an image on GFY cripples your servers, you need to stop being a cheap ass, it's mostly the fact that I like to keep my site and server clean, therefore I don't want random files/folders that my site itself isn't using taking up space and just overall making my structure look like complete shit.

I would hate to have a baby cry because I hosted an image of a hot girl and decided to clean up my directory and remove any files I'm not using, and delete that one, it's easier and forever to just throw it up on a reliable image host and it be there no matter what. Especially through server down time, would REALLY hate to have a 3 page long "I CAN'T SEE SHIT!!" replied thread.

notice when looking through old threads that there are so many broken images where people hosted them themselves and then never kept the images on their servers
