While I think there will be a small sector of the population that will play this as a racial issue, for the most part it is because he is the most recognizable athelete in the world. I think it had more to do with the way he handled things. Tried to be secretive and act suspicious by hiding away and just plain acting fishy.

I would almost bet that if he hadn't done any of that, had that second interview with the cops and hadn't raised so many eyebrows, nobody would have started digging for answers or trying to find out why he was acting so fishy.

He should have just played it straight and avoided this hassle he is now in.
