I heard that the place most of the internet guys live is inland and like 2 hours from the ocean?
I dont understand why anyone would want to live in costa rica and be not on the coast. Is this true ?
Is the bash located on the ocean??
Somewhere you can surf?
The Bash has always taken place in Jaco, which is a 2 hour drive from San Jose, and close to some great surfing spots (the last nights party always takes place at one of the most popular surfing beaches in the country).

For many years, there was no decent broadband on the coast... That enough keeps us inland. Also, the beach towns weren't really set up for residential living (the staff who work in tourist locations usually live 30 minutes inland in extremely small villages with no amenities)... Living at the beach still isn't very cost effective, you could live in Florida for less and get more.
With every year they build more and more condos and stuff and most the beach towns have decent broadband coverage, but after living in the city for 4 years I'm pretty used to it here and am happy going to the coast on the weekends or whatever.

AWESOME thank you for the info
Might have to mix in some pleasure with biz and make the trip
The main city of San Jose is kind of a dirty shithole.... Escazu is nice I guess, but that's the rich part of it, and the traffic from downtown to Escazu is really painful
The beaches are actually quite beautiful but pretty deserted most of the year
Cool place to visit, if you want a beach vacation getaway with friends, family, or a gf.
But living there sucks. A lot of the people in the city of San Jose are jerks, and it's just dirty and annoying...
YES, you are totally correct Morten, why in heavens name try and cram everything into feb ?
That's when it's always been (other than the one year which was skipped).
This would be more of a small, friendly gathering for the people who enjoyed coming every year, rather than a formal convention. It's also not too late to bump it a couple of weeks ahead into early March.

now you're talking and the title did say Costa Rica Bash 2010?! not more of a small, friendly gathering

That sounds a lot better!! Aren't you going to Barcelona and then skiing in Andorra??
For those of you who have come before or are considering coming if it is indeed brought back, how do you feel about having to pay a small package price?
ie. if it cost you somewhere around $400 for 3 nights hotel, transport, parties, activities (canopy, jugnle tours or whatever), food and alcohol/drinks all included - would you still be interested to come ?

Anyone who can't afford $400 for a package that jam packed shouldn't be coming LOL

Free is always good But ya I think 400 for all that is more than fair myself. I know I drank more than that each year. lol

That sounds like the perfect package and price for the average webmaster.
Once you know the exact date let me know and I will add it to AdultShowDates

If my health is good I will be there and so will the wife. No problems at all paying 400 per person for it, unless of course you want to have a cheaper rate for the women ( )
I would love it though if you could move it a tad from Feb to March, and I really do not think it is long enough. Would be killer if it went to 4-5 days at the actual beach. Then the day or so at San Jose. The shortness of current show is barely time to get adjusted to the area and trip before its almost time to leave again.
This is one of the 3 shows I would have no problems paying that kind of money or even more for. Last year it was the most missed show for me, even above Atlanta which is in my top 3.

Make it happen, please.
Here is what we were thinking so far:
Wednesday Night - San Jose
Thursday, Friday, Saturday Night - Jaco
Sunday Night - San Jose
That adds one extra night to the beach as opposed to previous years. Of course with people coming in early and leaving late, for those of us who live down here, it's always turned into a 10-day show anyhow
