Yea I get it.. I mean I am a Pariah in this biz and I never ever expected to win any awards.
I have realized that about 6 months into this biz when I started in '02.
However, despite my content being different, I'd put money on it it does better than over 70% of who's been nominated, and is more popular, too. Speaking as a pornographer, and not a webmaster, I look at what has been nominated and I shake my head. It's more of the same. Nothing new, and the usual suspects who suck on the tit of AVN and vice versa.
I am also surprised to see a lot of dvd companies nominated. Haven't they all but died? Maybe it's just AVN's unwillingness to realize that the game has changed, and the days of food catered sets are done and the people truly making a difference and driving the industry aren't in Chatsworth Ca. No one cares about the AVN awards. It's cheesier than the latin soap opera awards. Also, I think there could be some more Ebony stars nominated. What's up with that??
That being said, I think it's time AVN took their business plan, folded it up in a bird made of origami, and let it fly away, or, at worst, let it fly into where the business is headed, not where it was 8 years ago. I'm tired of seeing some methed out porn whore with ribs showing, dancing on the top of someone's booth.

I actually know a company that spent a good amount of money on a booth at the show and tables at the award show and didn't win a thing. they bitched about it to avn and guess what, the next year they won something

How does Lisa Ann not get nominated for performer of the year? She was everywhere and made Hustler a lot of money. Her first Palin installment is Hustler's best selling video of all time. They just ran that press release announcing how it's their best seller ever.
How does Vicky Vette not get nominated for web starlet when she has the most visited porn star website out there? She is the type to be nominated as a web starlet and not a contract girl. How can a woman who has a contract even be considered for this? She has a contract! The web starlets are the Vicky Vette and Raven Riley's of the world. Not a contract girl.
And how is Sasha Grey nominated for new web starlet? She only has out one or two movies. Where is her website? There is no Grey Art website. Fuck Junkie redirects to SashaGrey.com. And SashaGrey.com is not what you would call a porn site. So where is this website for Sasha to even be considered for new web starlet? The menu to the left leads to none of her videos unless I'm missing something. Where are her new Grey Art videos to even have this brand new company be considered for her to be nominated as new web starlet?
I have NOTHING against Sasha. I'm just pointing out how AVN should never have nominated her. Not because of her but because of her circumstances. There's so much more for me to critique.Comment

The Oscars of porn? The Oscars are voted by their peers. Not by one company who has a long history of giving awards and nominations to people who don't deserve it. When people ask who is Janie Summers, that should say something about the "best new starlet" category. And how exactly did Kayden Kross, a B-list porn star, get the hosting gig? More well known porn stars, and even legends, have never been asked to host.Comment
