im starting to hate avast more and more.. whats a good alternative?

The thing i hate the most is that every virus popup needs manual interaction, and i cant be bothered to check the settings because there are so many i cant find the one to just automatically delete or move infected objects.. it all needs manual clicks. Just like when you do a startup scan, that needs manual interaction too, if you dont it just stays stuck.. I never run an antivirus scan while im staring at the screen waiting like a zombie for the next popup to click away, no, ive got other things to do... i want a simple antivirus that runs automatically without thousands of settings, one thats efficient, automatic and good. Avast fucking sucks.

Looking for a free replacement? AVG is the most popular I think and Microsoft just released one that looks decent.

Been trying out the new Panda Cloud Antivirus...

The prog takes memory intensive processes and performs them in the cloud. And it's free.

Love the idea, hate the fact it doesn't have a scheduler.

I have eset running as well but the problem is they don't seen to catch alot of stuff and I end up having to use malwarebyte/search&destroy to get rid of spyware.

I usually help people with AVG because it's simple and works OK.

If you're not a cheapass, NOD32 is awesome, and Symantec Corporate Edition do pretty well. Norton is just a bloated sack of dog vomit.

ThunderByte AV was the world's most awesome, but it didn't make the transition to Windows.

It ran in protected mode and created a virtual x86 process and softvectored all read/writes to identify how the code ran in a virtual machine to identify heuristics, instead of just scanning for patterns like the rest of the time. It was a technological marvel.

AVG has become nagware IMHO. I used to swear by it but their up-sell tactics are getting aggressive. A pain for me because I installed in all my friends / families PCs and now they are all calling me wondering what to do. Ugg...
