There IS no good traffic to be bought - traffic brokers are full of shit (sorry guys, but it's true) and buying traffic is a COMPLETE waste of time. Disagree? Anyone who's bought traffic in the last three months and made even FIVE sales from it please step up to the microphone.

I purchased a banner spot from GTS last month and made more then 5 sales from it, and it was a cheap banner spot. I got an excellent ROI on the traffic. Of course I'm not going to say which site it was on, because I am going to renew it, but your statement just isn't true. If you do your due diligence you can find profitable traffic to buy, but no one in their right mind is going to map it out for you...Comment

I hear ya brother - and congrats on the banner ad!! I was actually referring to SKIMMED TGP/MGP traffic, the majority of the kind of traffic you can buy from brokers. Buying DIRECT traffic - banner, text links, etc - IS profitable IF you know the right places, etc.
And the other thing you said - no one will tell you the good places to buy traffic - is 100% accurate. Problem is, you gotta spend A LOT blindly to try and figure it out yourself and after spending close to a thousand dollars, I'm done trying. LOL DIRECT traffic buys - NOT 'brokered traffic' - could be a way to go, though.

If anyone requests that our feeder traffic be sent directly to a paysite I *strongly* discourage it, because, as you said, it generally does not work. (There are exceptions to this rule; I have a buyer that has currently bought over $15K of traffic to his paysite, and it works for him.) TrafficHolder also states directly on their site that they do not recommend skimmed traffic be sent to a paysite.
So, what is the traffic good for? Think cam sites. Think dating sites.
But, the real strength of feeder traffic is found when you send it to a 'filter' sites, be it a TGP, MGP, tube site or something similar. It's a cheap form of traffic that, if you know what you are doing, can be split, filtered and massaged. I've got several clients buying 100K+/day of this stuff, and doing very well with it.
