Hey
I am making a membership website, hopefully with wordpress, my only concern is if htaccess and wordpress can work together so I can have a page on my blog be password protected?

Anybody got some info on this? Thinking about using ccbill for proccessing

There is dozens of ways to do what you want. A few are plugins, a few are standalone scripts and some are just creative coding.

Most are better then just 'password protecting' a page, most are based on the wordpress user system, so its easy to hide or display content to logged in user that have a certain permission level.

Check out 'member' plugins or scripts.

Use the "Disable Canonical Redirect" plugins to avoid certain hassles.
Without it, the new canonical redirect misfeature can play havoc with the
browsers ability to remember the password, even during a single session,
so users will sometimes be prompted to re-enter their password in the middle
of surfing the site.

BTW - Strongbox can also protect Wordpress sites, with a couple different
configurations possible.

htaccess and wordpress definitely work together. Just install a plugin as mentioned before that will integrate itself with the wp system and probably give you better results.

Be aware that these generally have no security whatsoever. As Jdoughs said, they
only control what's displayed to the user. At that point, the user can post links to those
pics or videos wherever they want and anyone can access your content. The plugins
don't control who CAN access the content, only for whom it's automatically displayed.

You can add stuff to your htaccess, create an htpasswd file and set it up to protect only certain pages or a whole domain or subdomain, and passwords are stored in encrypted md5 in the htpasswd.
