Have you read what some of them say? Tax fraud, government fraud, bribery, tempering and surpressing evidence, silencing sceptics etc. This is very disturbing, considering this is the tax funded leading scientists in UK, NASA etc.:

It's also in the headlines now:

Not sure what all is in these emails but I have believed for years that "global warming" was a load of crap. Especially when it comes to man causing it. I will repeat what I said in these threads:
http://www.gfy.com/showthread.php?t=909537
http://www.gfy.com/showthread.php?t=875889
Exactly, and data shows it has been like this before. Shit, when our planet was forming and was basically one hemmroidal volcano CO2 was all there was.
Other things people do not take into account that affects our planet is not always IN or ON our planet. Differing distances or changing orbits around the sun, changes in the sun itself, just because we THINK we know how the sun works or THINK the sun always behaves in a certain way doesn't mean it can't do something out of the norm or do something that is normal for it that just hasn't been observed yet.
I think mankind has to big an ego to think they have the power to change or destroy the planet. The planet isn't in jeopardy like the green peacers would have you believe, WE ARE by our own actions. We aren't killing the planet, we are killing ourselves. The earth is not dependent on us for it's health and security, we are dependent on it.This will probably go ignored as most of my posts seem to or maybe I am spot on more than I think. Also I repeat that I acknowledge global warming and with my study of it I don't buy into man causing it. That is NOT the same as denying it.
And LadyMischief... Nice Post
At any rate, this man made global warming IS a means to bigger pocket books. If it is cyclical like I and many others believe, very crediable scientists at that, then there is nothing to be gained from it.
However, if MAN is the cause, then regulations can be made to control who gets to pollute and who doesn't. Believe it or not there are people who are more willing to pay millions of dollars a year to buy pollution privileges than spend those millions seeking eco friendly solutions.
Just check out this video that was on CNN this week: http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/tec...nhouse.ninenet
Most important is towards the end of that video, this:
"... companies will pay the government about $12 billion a year for permits to pollute."
So you tell me who profits off man made global warming? The same people drumming the theory into the publics head... GOVERNMENTS.Comment

That pretty much spells out my opinion of things. Quit saying we're killing the earth. We're not. We're only killing ourselves, and possibly a large portion of the existing life on earth. We aren't killing the planet, we are killing ourselves. The earth is not dependent on us for it's health and security, we are dependent on it.
You could submerge the entire surface of the earth under a mile of crude oil, and you will not kill the earth. You could strip the entire atmosphere away, and you will not kill the earth.
People need to quit playing it off as something it isn't. The planet does not care for us, and will do whatever it sees fit. We've been warming since the fucking ice age. Everything in nature cycles. It will cool and warm, yadda yadda. Deal with it.Comment

Well, if you read the correspondence, you also see that they admit the problem is not as big as they said and showed the public, and they manipulated. I already disregarded junk science aka Al Gore, but if we can't even trust NASA and the UK scientists, who should we trust? I believed them - now I'm in serious doubt. There IS global warming, but not that bad.Last edited by Dirty Dane; 11-22-2009, 05:53 PM.Comment

?This was the danger of always criticising the skeptics for not publishing in the ?peer-reviewed literature?. Obviously, they found a solution to that?take over a journal! So what do we do about this? I think we have to stop considering ?Climate Research? as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board? What do others think??Comment

Think about this.
What if you were, say, the most powerful country on Earth, and it had been that way for some time, and you liked it that way. But, there was the threat that the Chinese could finally awaken from their communist slumber and become industrialised and take over the number one spot.
How could you prevent this? War? No, they might win.
How about persuading them that if they continue to industrialise at the rate they are, they will destroy the planet. That might slow them down long enough for you to figure out a way to compete.Comment

This view is a bit simplistic and not thoroughly thought out. Why?Think about this.

China has their own scientist. Watching this as close as ours. And what conclusions have they come too?
"Chinese Scientists Say C02 Impact on Warming May Be ?Excessively Exaggerated? ? Scientists Lin Zhen-Shan?s and Sun Xian?s 2007 study published in the peer-reviewed journal Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics: "Although the CO2 greenhouse effect on global climate change is unsuspicious, it could have been excessively exaggerated." Their study asserted that "it is high time to reconsider the trend of global climate change.?
That was in 2007. By your analogy the world hangs on the data of American Scientists and that is simply no true. Every country has its own scientists, studying the same things as ours.Comment

Sure it's simplistic and it's not only the US, all Western nations that wouldn't want to see power transfer to the East have to be in on it. But I do believe that the throttling of growth in China and India amongst others is all part of the agenda.Comment

And you're going to believe this people about 2012 if they can't even tell you the truth about global warming?Comment
-
Let me put it another way. Your story? Nothing but simplistic fantasy.
In your original statement you were somehow under the impression that we somehow had the power to stop their industrialization by guilt tripping them into thinking they will destroy the planet.
I hate to break it to you but China is already on a fast track to becoming green. It wouldn't surprise me if they surpass us. Do some searches. Educate yourself.
So in short...
1. The US and the rest of the world are NOT using climate change to bring a country to its knees.
2. China has its own grip on the global warming issue and does not need any other country to hold its hand to make sure it understands.
3. China is already making huge strives toward cutting down its carbon footprint.

I get tired of hearing people say that the earth goes through cycles and this happened before and we are just going through another cycle.
What makes now different from the past is mankind and the things he's introduced into the environment in just the last 100 years or so that can potentially render the earth uninhabitable.
People need to understand just how balanced but fragile the ecosystem is and how fragile and critical the earth's atmosphere is and how neither is indestructible. Their loss would create a domino effect that would kill the earth. When I say kill the earth I mean that ALL living things would die making it a dead planet like Mars.
You would have to be an idiot to think that mankind can't make the earth uninhabitable.Comment

1. Where in my text that you quoted did I talk about ANYTHING cyclical.I get tired of hearing people say that the earth goes through cycles and this happened before and we are just going through another cycle.

2. What you quoted was in reference to the thought process of humans, ie. religion, need for end of world prophecies, etc.
3. The earth DOES go through cycles and it is FACT. We are able to know what climates were like over 1,000's upon 1,000's of years through ice or soil core data.
4. No where did I mention that man COULD NOT make the earth uninhabitable. But as of today there is no conclusion one way or the other that man is at this time having any affect at all. There are scientist crying on both sides of the fence. It is a matter of ONLY making up your mind who to believe as it is clear YOU are not a scientist or even uneducated on the subject outside of documentaries. These emails shed a harmful light on scientist who claim global warming is a real threat.
5. I have always been of the opinion that we NEED to stop polluting when we have the technology for safer means of energy. Unfortunately greed seems to put that on the slow track.Comment

1. In post #5 you quoted yourself as saying cyclical.
2. I quoted your post as I was speaking to you and your views and not so much that quote specifically.
3. How can you say some scientist's data can't be believed and then say something else is FACT because the scientists have the data to prove it. A fact is a fact until it's been disproved.
4. If you believe that man could make the earth uninhabitable through his actions don't you think it would be prudent to take a proactive stance towards global warming? If it's not happening now couldn't we at least take precautions to prevent it from happening in the future.
5. I believe that mankind could very easily make the planet uninhabitable in numerous ways if left unchecked. It doesn't bother me one bit that global warming is a serious issue one way or the other. If they get it right it saves the planet. If it turn's out it wasn't true then it was just an inconvenience. I'd rather be safe than sorry.Comment

You're not comprehending what I am saying. As far as US causing global warming, that is divided into two camps of scientists. Those who think WE are the cause and those who do not.
I was merely stating that it is PROVEN FACT accepted by ALL scientists that the earth goes through climate cycles in connection with CO2 levels. They have traced back over 70,000 years, computing data taken from ice cores. It clearly shows cycles of warming and cooling trends each preceding higher or lower levels of CO2.
The only thing up for debate is if man is causing this newer warming cycle, which in fact seems to all ready be ending, to occur faster than its cyclical counterparts.Comment

Parts of a news report not included in the blogs:
"
"Gavin Schmidt, a research scientist with NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, says the e-mails offer no damning indictment of climate researchers, and that bloggers are reading information in them out of context.
"There's nothing in the e-mails that shows that global warming is a hoax," he told Threat Level. "There's no funding by nefarious groups. There's no politics in any of these things; nobody from the [United Nations] telling people what to do. There's nothing hidden, no manipulation.
"It's just scientists talking about science, and they're talking relatively openly as people in private e-mails generally are freer with their thoughts than they would be in a public forum. The few quotes that are being pulled out [are out] of context. People are using language used in science and interpreting it in a completely different way."
Trenberth agrees.
"If you read all of these e-mails, you will be surprised at the integrity of these scientists," he says. "The unfortunate thing about this is that people can cherry pick and take things out of context."
