She may well run and if she wants to, it is a free country. But I think she has less than 1% chance of actually winning. She thinks she took it hard as the VP candidate? Wait until her fellow republicans get their claws into her.

i wouldn't write this one off so quicky or underestimate her. underneath that plain, wholesome americanism she polished...is a pretty devious woman....and speaks with forked tongue as easily as the rest of them...

she called that picture of her on newsweek....cheesy....even she posed for it on that runners mag.....and said she thought newsweek would have better things to do, like focus on the problems of the country....and you can just hear the collective nodding of the heads out there....

the woman draws crowds....that's gotta count for something. she's scary as fuck, but she has the 'it' factor.

people love her. politicians love to hate her and she is getting coached, as witnessed by her recent interviews....

if she runs in 2012...with the mood of the nation toward obama these days..she's got a chance....depending of course, if she doesn't screw it up, which is likely.

There is a bonus for anyone who buys Palin's book -- they will have an emergency supply of toilet paper should they run out.

The big problem that she faces is that she is so polarizing that there are far more people who hate her than love her. Her own party is scared of her because they realize her base support lies with the evangelicals who lover her and could help her win a few states in the primary. Those wins could cause a more moderate candidate to drop out and she would either eventually get destroyed by Obama or lose late in the primaries and the winner would be someone that had no chance against Obama.

The 2012 election is in Obama's hands right now. If 2012 rolls around and the economy is doing well and we are sorting out the issues in the middle east he will be almost impossible to beat. It is very difficult to beat an incumbent president, it is almost impossible to do so if things are going well. If he is doing well and has a decent approval rating, it won't matter who they run against him.

That said, if things aren't going well, he could be vulnerable, I just don't think she has a chance of winning. The most recent poll I saw a few days ago said that 53% of likely voters would never vote for her and that only about 65% of the republicans would vote for her. That is not a good sign. She could still win her party over, but that doesn't matter it is the independents that matter and she scares the shit out of them. It is still a long ways off, but of all the candidates she has the hardest road to travel. She has to get the stench of losing the last election off of herself, she has to win over her party and convince a decent amount of independents that she is not batshit crazy. And she has to convice the voters at large, most of whom think she is unqualified for the job, that she has somehow become qualified even though she quit her job as governor. It won't be an easy task.

you have to admit, she's pretty smart by cashing in on whatever capital is left from the last election, thanks to McCain.
