To expand on this more... The reason for the move is because google has penalized the site for some reason. So I am mainly concerned with keeping good with all other se's while NOT using google tools and let that search engine find it again

what FTP you use? some will damage the content and if will be hard to replace. do you have insurance on your content?

i would also suggest logging in with a password and a username.

I'll just keep my server and ask my host to change ip's and site name. I think it will work.

I've given up on trying to get ranked back on goog and think I need to change domain names. Anybody with positive negative experience with this I would appreciate your input

no man i dont have any experience with it, but pointing another domain to same location may harm nothing, but thats just imho ...

I'd actually be curious to find out if Google has the content penalized or just the URL?

Will moving the site fix the problem? I'd imagine Google would also pick up any re-directs, connect the dots and possibly re-penalize the new site!?

That's a tough one that I cannot provide any guidance on.

My only guess would be to just move it and wait for Google to get around to re-indexing it as though its a new site.

Not sure about other control panels but in cpanel you can park the new domain on the old domain/site. It indexes as if the content is it's own. Then begin the process of changing the in bound links. Later just make the old domain a redirect if you want or leave it be. You may also want to change the content itself up a bit to trick google and the IP itself wouldn't be a bad idea.

i've gone over every google guideline 5 times plus... it ain't the content. I do have a problem though because every other se likes the site and places in top ten.

So it's how to keep the other search engines and make the transfer for a fresh google evaluation.

I have my suspicions on the cause and will def. give a heads up when I find out how this transfer goes...

301 redirect is what you want to use, there isn't any clue that you actually need to do this (other then you think you should rank higher).

This next line is important: Not ranking in google does not mean penalized.

Switching the content to another domain isn't going to do shit for you, especially since the only reason is 'its not ranking where I want it'. Starting the same site again, on a different domain, isn't going to suddenly make it a google win.

It's not what I want or what I think. It ranked #1 for 2 years and still shows high in google webmaster tools but physically checking the site it's nowhere.

I understand the anomaly's of google and this happens and if relevant usually comes back. Mine has not... going on 6 months now

I have a -950 penalty. 99% sure that is it.

I have changed a shitload over the past month and also have discovered a site that is also penalized copied my meta descriptions and some titles.

Anybody with real experience with this penalty please hit me up.
