The pot fight in Red Bluff, expanding, plus religious twist.

Well one club reversed its announcement and decided to remain open and take it to higher courts. They are already buried in legal fee's and of course the silly fines, which are 100.00 for the first, then 500.00 per ticket. They have a small pile and the Sheriff said he would ticket them again starting tomorrow and each day after that until a court decides the issues.

Of course that small town badge wearing demi-god could not let ego stop there. Him and his cronies are on it even more. They now announced they will be investigating that club that remained open against CA law, to see if they are in violation in any shape or form so that they can charge them all with criminal charges (and more legal fee's).

Will keep following this as my city Redding has also been grumbling about it. Thanks to the Chemical People (anti drug program) went to find out how many clubs are available, they located 27 or so, plus a few that deliver and they feel that is way to many. They ask the stupid ass question, why must we have more marijuana clubs than supermarkets in town. Oddly it is just about 1/3 more than the number of pharmacies we have. Plus they are rattling the cages about how many of the co-ops etc are very close to schools and churches. Most of these clubs have opened up quickly, with little security or attention to the laws, etc.

Currently our city council was voting on limiting such clubs, possible bans, or zoning issues. It was deadlocked with a tie vote, only because one councilman is out sick with prostate cancer - which he is getting a shit storm for. If our city turns on the ban as well, you can expect much larger ramifications, since we are a much larger city.

If you really do support medical marijuana usage, you should really be following what is going on up here. Keep in mind LA is on the fence about bitch slapping the clubs.

On a side note, the assorted "Christian" food banks who are very underfunded and are super low on food are turning away any food donated by marijuana clubs, collectives, etc. One of them even went on the news to say they would not accept the food as the source does not justify the means. We have a few food banks and homeless shelters, all of which are refusing any money and food from such.

I will be sending out some notifications to the decent clubs to begin working together on putting together their own social programs, since the others do not want to play ball - though they accept gifts, donations, food from the alcohol distributors, the Casino, pharmacies, etc.

This is the City versus clubs.

Red Bluff had issues since the first opened up. The sheriff started fining them for lack of a business permit from day one. Since the city was refusing to give out such permits. I.E. If you had a club, you couldnt get a business permit, no business permit then he would fine you.

After that and some clubs staying open despite the fines. The city held an emergency council meeting yesterday. Even though the councilmen were not paying attention, some caught sleeping (same one charged with a small assault charge against a club owner that night). Well they all voted on two things. First was an emergency measure allowing the sheriff to hand out fines to not only clubs/co-op's/collectives/dispensaries at 100 then 500 per fine, but to also give them to landlords and building owners. This also applied to home grows for people supplying their own.
The second measure they voted in was a TOTAL ban on clubs, co-op's, collectives, dispensaries, and home grows that will go into effect in 42 days now. There was like a 13 day period, and then a 30 day period to make it official on the second one.

Yes you read above right. A club owner who was upset with a councilmen caught sleeping when it was their turn to speak, was harshly poked in the chest numerous times by that very councilman. The club owner placed him under citizens arrest and pressed charges, which were misdemeanor assault charges.

Something to keep in mind. Interstate 5 runs smack through Red Bluff and then Redding. With Red Bluff's ban, technically driving through that area with medical marijuana would be a "hot" area. Also could be seen as interfering with state commerce on the other side since up north is a very large producing area.

I been trying to keep people up to date as this is not getting much coverage.

Did you mention they build there co-op next door to the police station?
The whole thing pisses me off, it's a state law that red bluff is fighting, that town has over 65 churches in it and it's a small town, you can't bjuild a co -op away from a church there.
Red bluff has it's good points, they do put on a lot of good shows, like the boat drags, bull rodeos and monster truck rallies, but they need to leave medical marijuana alone.

The one remaining open I do not think is next to the police station.

I know damn well it is impossible not to build one near a church, red bluff isnt taking that angle though, Redding an Shasta Lake are. Red Bluff is taking another more devious and fucked up route.

1. All business's must have a city issued license, with zoning regulations intact.
2. Business permit office is told to refuse licenses to medical marijuana people.
3. Fine such clubs for lack of license.

That didnt shut them down.

4. Hold emergency meeting so you can fine landlords and building owners that way perhaps they will evict them, plus keep the 100, 500 fine intact.
5. Place law on books banning them, even personal grows within city limits. Outside of city limits is a joke, you know that. Thankfully that will take 42 days.

Though I am sure they have notified property owners so they "know" and can be fined. I am sure they will gladly support the pot people and take the 100 first offense and 500 per day office after that. Especially since jack shit rents for more than 500 bucks a month there. Plus with most landlord law, they could get an emergency eviction and not wait 30 days and even break a lease. Especially since the sheriff would be involved.

Yes this is all fucked but holds larger issues in its grasp. What is funny is that Red Bluff and to a degree Shasta Lake and Redding (though the last two havent put the hammer down) can not really afford a court case, especially if they loose.

Literally just got off the phone with the news reporters. Was pretty amazing the lack of information they had on the assorted laws, nor the fact that our county was collecting fee's for ID cards - which a chunk of the fee's go to the county.

She was very amazed and also very much on the disbelief side, especially with the food bank angle. Think it will help some. Just hate putting my name out yet again tied to this. Do not like painting targets on myself.

Well I'm glad you did it
The timing is funny too, now that it's burning season.

Yeah, but it's a good cause.
