The White House announced today that the president?s daughters received the H1N1 vaccine after it became available to Washington, D.C. schoolchildren.

The vaccine was administered last week to Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8, by a White House physician, who applied for and received the vaccine from the D.C. Department of Health, ?using the same process as every other vaccination site in the District,? according to the first lady?s Press Secretary Katie McCormick-Lelyveld.

The president and first lady have not yet received the vaccination. The White House said they will wait until the needs of priority target groups -- young people under 24, pregnant women, and people with underlying conditions -- receive theirs first.

?I suspect that I may come fairly far down the line,? The president told CNN last month. ?We want to get vaccinated. We think it's the right thing to do. We will stand in line like everybody else. And when folks say it's our turn, that's when we'll get it.

On Friday President Obama signed a proclamation declaring H1N1 a national emergency.

All four members of the first family received the seasonal flu shot last week.

umm no.. Tuna that contains mercury in it... has mercury in it. Are you saying since its tuna that the mercury that it contains is no longer mercury?

Vaccines that DO contain mercury have umm mercury in them.. It being put into the vaccine does not make the mercury somehow disappear, or change it to not being mercury.

Please tell us all how it being put into a vaccine somehow makes it safe to be injected into humans.

They have a organic form that degrades almost the same as mercury in it. If you had your own arguments or thought though you would not only know this but also be able to rebut with that it actually takes longer to leave your body than standard mercury does.

Yes when tuna has mercury in it that has not left the fish, if you consume it you are consuming mercury. Have said that several times already. I just do not go by your logic of stating that if something contains a percentage of something it then equals the nasty percentage only. AKA Tuna = mercury as per your list. Shall we get picky with potatoes or tomatoes as well? Vaccines for the past numerous decades have contained mercury or an organic form of it. They also have contained a few preservatives that could be considered toxic at certain levels and not really that good for people. Of course they have been lowering the amounts of these almost by the year as they advance the technology and science. This of course goes back to even the early vaccines. Which again to your previous posting logic shows that they have not had enough testing which apparently 50 plus years is not enough time for some studies of course.

At very least go look up how and why mercury poisoning happens before using it as a reason. Why the hell would they want to distribute a flawed, dangerous vaccine?

The backlash would be HUGE if things went wrong. Routine vaccination programs all over the world would collapse, politicians who supported vaccination would be out of a job, etc. The long-term costs would far outweigh the relatively small short-term financial benefits. And yes, a few billion $ is relatively small.

Aside from that, it would be a pretty messed up conspiracy. I mean, if it was a conspiracy, they managed to hide it magnificently from all the immunologists and virologists I have spoken with - and then slipped up and exposed it to every wackjob on the entire fucking internet!

Mercury poisoning doesn't usually happen via the skin. It usually happens through eating lots of fish for extended periods of time. Aside from that, in countries like China heavy industry workers are fairly regularly exposed through inhalation.

Mercury poisoning through the skin only really happens through using certain illegal cosmetics, and isn't as common as other types of mercury poisoning.

But eh... you seem to be completely oblivious of the fact that not all mercury compounds have the same effects. You're attacking ethylmercury, while mercury poisoning usually occurs through methylmercury. That's like attacking foods containing carbon compounds because of the toxicity of carbonmonoxide.

I guess we'll have to add chemistry to the list of things you don't understand? At least it's in good company - with math, biology and medicine already on the list.
