Ok, what's your opinion on paysite pricing these days in this economy

is anyone charging $40 or $50 anymore?

a lot of the big boys are now $25

what about $20? $15 and $10

thoughts?

I dropped the prices for one of my paysites from $29.95 to $24.95. So far just 15 days passed so it's hard to say if it works.

I think $29.95 is the perfect price for a membership given you have an attractive tour and nice join page. You either have super intriguing content or you don't. If they're gonna sign-up they will, IMO, it doesn't matter whether it's $20 or $30. Very few people "shop" for porn, it's not like, "hey this other site has this exact model that I want to see getting fucked the way I wanna see it for $10 less".

JMO though, I don't promote mainstream porn, only unique fetishes.

I made the change from $24.95 to $29.95 and saw zero drop in sales. I ran that for 90 days, then I upped it again to $34.95 and I did see a dip in sales after another 90 days. Switched it back to $29.95 and have left it there.

Because gay men will pay it.

They also tend to have more disposable income than straight men with families. Especially the ones who have to hide it from the wifey.

And the ones who are on the DL will pay to get something they like/want because it's a quick, reliable source. I think they don't always have time to be searching around on the family computer for gay porn or want to risk saving it on the hard drive.

I would never consider less that $29/34 on my mega porn sites. I am actually looking to raise that.

In the past on new start ups, I may charge 14/19 to start out, but the prices keeps going up as there is more content. By end of first year, it is up to $24, and by 2 years, $29.

Yep. Same here. That has always been the thread.

Plus I have people willing to pay $34.95 just not to be rebilled, one time sign up. Versus $29.95 recurring, or signing up that way and canceling immediately.

If you have quality converting content. People will pay for it regardless of price.

naturally you charge 19.64 for the membership, plus 3.88 and 2.04 for the two prechecked cross sales that both 30 minute renew at 29.34 and 58.94. Which both have billing descriptors as Service station and Gasmart.
All get you access to the same site though with different front ends and timed release content on rotation. So technically you do not see the same material on each sites unless you wait long enough.

The higher the price, the better the rebills...don't ask my why...I tried all prices, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35...the retention number was the smallest on 10 or 15 memberships and then was going up, so I had the best rebills on 35. Price has nothing to do with quality of the content either, its just the marketing that matters...some can't sell super unique content for 5 bucks, some can sell shitty one for 40.

That's kind of like what I went through with MRPW. We charge $29.95 for recurring; $34.95 for a one-time membership. But this grants you access to the entire network (17+ sites). I experimented with differant price points - dropping the price to $24.95 - and saw ZERO change in sales, even when I bumped it back up to $29.95. When I raised it to $34.95 sales dipped. So i think the 'sweet spot' is $29.95. At least for me. LOL

I always thought the less elastic the demand for the site the easier it was to hold the line.

I'd be surprised if any niche site would have to lower pricing. Depending on quality I'd bet they could even charge a premium.

I did the same a couple months ago, conversion rates are nearly the same.

The reason big boys drop to $24 is to get the CC# and bang em out on all the crosses and upgrades on the next few screens after the join.
