I've finally gotten my ass out of Asia. Never again.

If you like spending 30 minutes trying to get your email through a VPN then by all means go.

I can't imagine how much money I lost by living there. Without exaggeration I get more done in a couple hours now then I did in an entire day there.

there's some bad advice here so i'll try to clear it up.

the border runs are much harder now. it wasnt 3-month renewals, it was 1-month, but they changed that to 15-days and 4 stamps maximum (or something like that). you can get an initial 3-month visa from your local Thai embassy (DC or LA is good) but then they are doing what they can to make your stay short after that.

the basic thought of Thai police, bar girls and Immigration is farangs are fine as long as they don't stay long and they spend all the money they have while in country.

its a different story if u are married or retired, but then u better have a lot of cash. they require a fresh truckload imported every year. thailand has the toughest immigration laws of any developing country i know of.

working is no big deal. no one will even ask you on your short-term visit (except maybe a bar girl). i wouldnt try shooting porn without some payoff money on hand. the only thing u can really go to jail for in thailand is drugs. everything is just a payoff - if u get caught.

u should be spending some hours on thaivisa if u are worried about anything. most of the guys on there have been in thailand for decades.

one of the easiest visas to get is an education visa. is the muay thai school accredited?

                enjoy your stay!

Sorry but that is plain wrong.

If you have any kind of multiple entry visa it is 3 months renewals.

The 15 days is only for those doing land runs after their 30 day on arrival visa expired.

Fucksakes said 3 months + 3 months so a double entry tourist visa is all he need.

Scorpion Gyms is one of the most famous gyms in Pattaya.

I know Scorpion gyms, I've trained in Thailand for 8 years and fought in almost every stadium.

My advice... don't bother with Muay Thai, honestly, you are here for only a few months you don't want to wake up early morning or go to bed exhausted when you could just be enjoying yourself

ah got it. so how does he get the +3 without a land run? they said on thaivisa that you have to now fly out and back in? road borders wont give +3 or even +30days?

im not sure how the short-termers do it. im on a marriage visa lol

You get 3 months (2+1) when you still have a valid multiple entry visa.

On Thaivisa they are talking about people who have no visas and only get a stamp on arrival.
If you are coming in with only your passport, you get 30 days by air and 15 by land.

I guessing though that fucksakes will go to a Thai embassy and get a proper visa before coming

                              cool. just saw this:

I don't think you will get a non immigrant visa to visit friends from any consulate in the States.
The best you can probably get is a 3 entry tourist visa which would give you almost 9 months without needing a new visa. You would have to get a 30 extension of your first 60 day entry then leave and re-enter using your 2nd entry then extend again and use your 3rd entry just before your visa expires.
You could apply any of the honorary consulates that you cam find a list of by using the pull down menu on this webpage. http://www.thaiembdc.org/AboutEmb/EmbDirect.aspx
It is best to get the longest term visa you can get in states to avoid having to make visa runs to get another visa even though you might not use all the entries because it would save the cost of traveling to get another visa if you don't find work quickly.
If you find work you could then go to any nearby consulate and apply for a B visa.

That is what I've been saying man, all he needs is a proper tourist visa.

For 6 months a double entry with the extensions is enough.
