ok let me make this a little more clear, I am going to live there for a few months 3 is max and than you need to leave for the day and return for another 3 months.

my wife and kids are staying here.. I am going there for the main reason of training mauy thai and seeing a beautiful place.. for 10 years my girlfriend sees me sitting in a room working, we went through some rough times.. seeked help and were doing extrememly well now. I always held back from going to such place.. or travelling to webmasters shows because my family came first.. this time my girlfriend tells me to go, I am not getting any younger nor have i been outta canada.. this is a treat for me.

magpan 10-24-2009 11:24 AM

Just enjoy it! :)

Then you are a tourist and it is nobodies business what you do :2 cents:

There is nothing in particular you need to know, internet is available everywhere and these days there is a Seven Eleven, ATM, etc, at the corner of every street.

Convenience is what Thailand does best. Everything you want on tap 24/7.

One suggestion, don't leave for just on day after 3 months, visit the Philippines or something, you might find that you like it better :upsidedow

Where are you planning to go for your Muay training and how good are you? If I am around I can introduce you to the right people.

Tasty1 10-24-2009 12:15 PM

Oh, it is just a holiday.

I agree with Slappin Fish, visit some other countries also.
And don't stay in just 1 place, go also to Phi Phi island.
I suggest Cambodia for 3 weeks, Vietnam for 3 weeks, Bali, or go to Malaysia.
Tickets are realy cheap in asia.

this will be my first attempt at muay thai, my friend however been doing it for some time and Id really like to learn.. since being a webmaster I have put on some weight, over the last year I been running everyday and doing ALOT better, just stepping up my game now.

in pattaya .. we'll be at scorpion gym/rmb gym and maybe sityodtong for a day or two.

check out. Fight Passport

Shoplifter 10-24-2009 12:58 PM

I've finally gotten my ass out of Asia. Never again.

If you like spending 30 minutes trying to get your email through a VPN then by all means go.

I can't imagine how much money I lost by living there. Without exaggeration I get more done in a couple hours now then I did in an entire day there.

Better you than me!

;)

there's some bad advice here so i'll try to clear it up.

the border runs are much harder now. it wasnt 3-month renewals, it was 1-month, but they changed that to 15-days and 4 stamps maximum (or something like that). you can get an initial 3-month visa from your local Thai embassy (DC or LA is good) but then they are doing what they can to make your stay short after that.

the basic thought of Thai police, bar girls and Immigration is farangs are fine as long as they don't stay long and they spend all the money they have while in country.

its a different story if u are married or retired, but then u better have a lot of cash. they require a fresh truckload imported every year. thailand has the toughest immigration laws of any developing country i know of.

working is no big deal. no one will even ask you on your short-term visit (except maybe a bar girl). i wouldnt try shooting porn without some payoff money on hand. the only thing u can really go to jail for in thailand is drugs. everything is just a payoff - if u get caught.

u should be spending some hours on thaivisa if u are worried about anything. most of the guys on there have been in thailand for decades.

one of the easiest visas to get is an education visa. is the muay thai school accredited?

enjoy your stay!

NickB. 10-24-2009 09:18 PM

use a VPN and go around telling everyone what you do and youre all set

Sorry but that is plain wrong.

If you have any kind of multiple entry visa it is 3 months renewals.

The 15 days is only for those doing land runs after their 30 day on arrival visa expired.

Fucksakes said 3 months + 3 months so a double entry tourist visa is all he need.

Scorpion Gyms is one of the most famous gyms in Pattaya.

I know Scorpion gyms, I've trained in Thailand for 8 years and fought in almost every stadium.

My advice... don't bother with Muay Thai, honestly, you are here for only a few months you don't want to wake up early morning or go to bed exhausted when you could just be enjoying yourself :thumbsup

ah got it. so how does he get the +3 without a land run? they said on thaivisa that you have to now fly out and back in? road borders wont give +3 or even +30days?

im not sure how the short-termers do it. im on a marriage visa lol

You get 3 months (2+1) when you still have a valid multiple entry visa.

On Thaivisa they are talking about people who have no visas and only get a stamp on arrival.
If you are coming in with only your passport, you get 30 days by air and 15 by land.

I guessing though that fucksakes will go to a Thai embassy and get a proper visa before coming :thumbsup

cool. just saw this:

I don't think you will get a non immigrant visa to visit friends from any consulate in the States.
The best you can probably get is a 3 entry tourist visa which would give you almost 9 months without needing a new visa. You would have to get a 30 extension of your first 60 day entry then leave and re-enter using your 2nd entry then extend again and use your 3rd entry just before your visa expires.
You could apply any of the honorary consulates that you cam find a list of by using the pull down menu on this webpage. http://www.thaiembdc.org/AboutEmb/EmbDirect.aspx
It is best to get the longest term visa you can get in states to avoid having to make visa runs to get another visa even though you might not use all the entries because it would save the cost of traveling to get another visa if you don't find work quickly.
If you find work you could then go to any nearby consulate and apply for a B visa.

Slappin Fish 10-25-2009 07:07 AM

That is what I've been saying man, all he needs is a proper tourist visa.

For 6 months a double entry with the extensions is enough.

Can't argue with that but they do make it slightly easier for genuine tourists like Fucksakes.

Yes, but only for a 15 day extension if you just show up with no visa. You can rope-a-dope the system though, there are LOTS of companies that will do that for you here. Run to Laos (or wher eever), get X amount to time, extend at Thai immigration, do a border run, blah, blah. All kinds of ways to extend your visa. Like everything else in Thailand, it's only money.

There are many ways to skin a cat, and Thai cats are quite easy to skin. :2 cents:

So running affiliate operations (not shooting content) would be fine in countries like Thailand and China as long as your a tourist yes?

good luck with that

NO! It is illegal. However, how is anyone going to know unless you run around telling everyone what you do? Thailand does watch the internet, but not very close. Use a VPN or don't do direct loads to and from porn sites, and you should be OK.

China... they monitor their internet much more than Thailand, so you may have a better chance of getting caught there. The last time I heard of "webmasters" being arrested in China, they were given 7 years in prison.

Tasty1 10-26-2009 07:28 AM

Tip, when it goes wrong when you are looking at porn sites (you always can say it was a pop-up spam). Tell the police you don't want to go with them to the policestation, but you are willing to pay the policeman the fine, so he can make the payment for you. 99% change he take the money (and he won't pay the fine, but put it in his pockets). The same when you get arrested during a traffic accident, visa problems, drunk in public, or when you are on a full moon party and smoke a joint. A friend of mine paid 5000 dollar after he took a joint on a full moon party (got it from an undercover policeman). Another one got 10 years for 1 gram coke. When it realy goes wrong, i will visit you at the Bangkwang prison. Another friend wrote a book about his 10 year stay in that prison, he got death penalty but received a King's pardon.

When you live in Thailand working on porn sites and someone finds out, 99% change they use it to blackmail you or let you arrest bij a cop (and share the bribe).

kmanrox 10-26-2009 09:11 AM

hello USA VPN's and shut your mouth about what you do to people around here and you're fine... 99% of the ppl dont even use VPNs... unless yer shooting content you're not in any major risk...

visas.. see thaivisa.com i know ppl who've stayed on IMM B visas for many years... just get them at a consulate in your home country they give them easy..

czarina 10-26-2009 09:20 AM

it's great to live in a 3rd world country... things are cheap, the food is awesome and you are free to do whatever you want.
but no matter what, you will miss your homeland, so DONT BURN YOUR BRIDGES!

also, dont tell ANYONE that you work in porn. No girlfriends, no friends, not the maid!

klinton 10-26-2009 11:05 AM

At the end of the 2 months you can go to the immigration office in Jomtien and for 1900bht get an extra month before you need to leave.

You can also do that at the end of the second 2 months.

So in effect with the visa you have you can stay 6 months (2+1) + (2+1) :thumbsup
