I do mean official reason. You know the reason that you gave the doctor or the doctor gave you - so they could write the prescription. Not just if you paid him money.

I have read in the pas that beyond easing the pain and suffering of some terminally ill cancer patients that it also appears to have some positive affects on patients suffering from Glaucoma.

Glad you heard things. OK that is covered although not very common especially in the GFY age range.

Not asking about what you read. Either you are using with a prescription or are not.
Will add a PS - as a pain killer it is BS, but OK.

Typically AIDS patients would use it for nausea, insomnia, and eating issues. Again pain killer is sort of BS and people will real illnesses know this already.

So anyone? Not just what you hear?

I will be simple with mine. I use it mostly for eating issues as I have chronic anemia. It does offer very slight spasm control for me (works better for others). I do have insomnia but do not have a usage for that. It also is prescribed to me for nausea due to medications I take, which again effect appetite too.
I do have a whole laundry list of medical issues, just listed the ones I had it actually prescribed by a doctor for, and no I did not pay for a prescription or letter of recommendation. (Guess if you did, you can answer that too). I used my regular doctor.

My reason is for stomach issues and for my seizures. Stomach issues are from the seizure meds.

When people have epilepsy their brain fires weird making you go up and down mood wise. 35% of epileptics suffer from depression. Well, when I don't smoke I'm on the opposite spectrum, more energy than I know what to do with. My brain doesn't slow down and I can't concentrate.

I'm pretty sure the only way I got through my MBA was smoking.

Now if I could get a prescription in the state of AZ - that would be my reasoning. They put me on Marinol, the pill with the active THC in it, doesn't work the same as pot.

Its been studied and canaboids actually fight cancer cells.
It helps people fight wasting disease like aids, cancer, and chrons eat normally with a full appetite helping with weight gain and quality of life.
This plant has more medicinal purpose than all that garbage the drug companies feed the sheep. Do a little reading.

very familiar with marinol, its side effects, OD chances, and well its other problems.

Yeah, I stopped using it. I only used it if I ran out of pot and needed it. A lot of times I used it when traveling.

Gave me horrible heartburn, jittery and hyper as hell on it.

It can very well make some people lazy. Some people are just idiots and will use any excuse to sit around and do nothing.

Typically any person who has a solid medical issue and needs drugs to assist it very rarely even gets to enjoy any bonus side of the drugs. I personally know I can be on a boatload of narcotics and yes I am talking morphine, Valium, nor co, fentanyl (spelling), and more. With no real effects, not tired, no concentration issues, no impairment.

When I do smoke I get a bit hungry thanks to strain of my choice. I do not get the giggles, I do not get sleepy, nor do I get "lazy". I do have one strain that will make me tired though. That is only used late at night. Often there are a few strains I have tried that if anything give you sort of a buzz making you want to be active.

That true but all depends how regularly and how much you smoke. For example the "to get hungry" effect i didn't get it. After i stop smoking one year ago i finally added some weight which is noticable. Gee i want to get some of those soft strains Can you name some of them

I do not "shop" at dispensaries like most. So we do not have any of the "crazy" names attached. I just know the stuff I get from "frank" causes X, what I get from "jenny" causes Y, and so on. Each is an established grower and does supply a few places. Just I am way up in Nor Cal (near humbolt, hayfork, etc. whos main economy has been this for well decades).

I smoke more than daily by the way. Not all strains cause munchies or hunger either.

Lucky you to be in LA. Here is totally fucked up and the risk is high for growing your own shit. Maybe i will start again smoking when the things will settle up in better direction. Hence i don't want to end up all night in police station because of one joint.

Depending on the type of pain it can work quite well. In my case, pain is due to spasticity and since pot reduces the spasticity, it reduces the pain.

i was a grower in Sonoma for a few years before getting into adult back when they were just toying with all the medical issues and cannabis clubs

Pain and spasms = two different issues. Yes spasms can and do hurt. I get them constantly. Fixing something that reduces the pain does not make it a pain killer.

Example it works very well for PMS, especially cramping. Cramping causes pain. Does not make it a pain killer though. Makes it a cramp killer so to speak.

True that. I use MMJ for self-diagnosed ADD, believe it or not. My wife thinks my brain chemistry is all kinds of fucked up, since the same thing that will have her couchlocked for hours will have me buzzing with energy and simultaneously able to target my focus arbitrarily and deeply.

So, not that it's for everyone, but for all the lazy bum potheads out there, there are also quite a few effective Ted Turner types.

For me, while under its influence I become stuck in the profound Now. That's where big shit gets done.

I am very pro pot. I am also very pro other prescription drugs. Not all mask the problem. Many do exactly what they are supposed to do while you are on it, just like pot does. Someone with extreme pms cramps would be fine while taking pot, symptoms will reappear when the pot is stopped. That is not elimination, that is suppression.

to be fair no state has legalized yet.
Some just have sort of decriminalized and that is pushing it.

Even in CA there are problems.

Have not seen any of the news posted on here yet about it despite that it has been an ongoing problem in a small local town near me.
The Sheriff is VERY any pot for any reason and is on the it is federally illegal crazy train, despite that he swore himself to uphold the laws of CA.
Now a dispensary opened up in his tiny town (only one). He made threats when he found out they were in process of opening. They opened anyways. He has since visited them every day and given them a ticket on zoning regulations (despite to zoning laws against it). He also got the city to put a moratorium on any clubs from opening once he got wind of this one. Now the tickets themselves are technically just misdemeanors, they can add up to an arrestable offense. Club says they will file them away and see him latter. He says he will ticket them each day and close them down.

When I say small town, I mean town the size that you do NOT want any person with power against you.

I see what you mean, and of course pot doesnt magically eliminate problems. What i meant to say is that most drugs given for digestive diseases for example, only mask symptoms while many times giving you much harsher side effects or worse disease, where marijuana does not. Unless you cosider the munchies side or slight short term memory loss a bad side effect. Drugs like prednisone destroys your internal organs, bones, and nervous system but every docter and their mom prescribes it for many disorders, when you can prescripe a natural plant that in some ways promotes your health. Cannaboids have been proven very beneficial against disease.

Mayor Laguardia wanted to do this before both you and I were born. One of the most moving clips on cannabis ever recorded.

I recommend the Grass DVD is has a lot of these clips and is very worth seeing. That DVD informed me of Laguardia.

Amsterdam weed has had more "myth" attached than reality.
It is like that fantastic tiny ass hard to get into outdated and grungy steakhouse all the locals rave about, especially its history. They take you and it is nothing special, just sort of average and you have had much better. You just never were part of the history and lore that gives it more than it really has to offer when push comes to shove.

A FYI - you Euro's, you do not have to have tobacco with pot. It will not make you go mad, make you sterile, or whatever if taken as is. Seriously.

In Michigan our newly enacted Medical Marijuana Law:

The Michigan Medical Marihuana Act defines a "qualifying patient" as: a person who has been diagnosed by a physician as having a debilitating medical condition.

Specific Medical Conditions listed in Statute:
?Debilitating medical conditions" [Section 3 (a) (1)] means any of the following conditions and/or their treatments:

* Cancer
* Glaucoma
* Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus
* Acquired immune deficiency syndrome
* Hepatitis C
* Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS - Lou Gehrig's Disease)
* Crohn's disease
* Agitation of Alzheimer's disease
* Nail patella

General diseases, medical conditions, and treatment not listed but authorized in Statute:
A patient can also qualify under the statute [Section 3 (a) (2)] if he/she experiences any chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition, or it's treatment, which produces one or more of the following symptoms or side effects:

* cachexia or wasting syndrone;
* severe and chronic pain;
* nausea;
* seizures, including but not limited to those characteristic of epilepsy;
* severe and persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to those characteristic of multiple sclerosis
