Lots of us do this, I sign updates this way.. We do that because it creates personality and a connection to the reader.

we all know that you aren't supposed to judge a site by its pr but there are some uses for it and im sure if they get rid of it enough people will complain to the point where they add it back. its the only reason i have the google toolbar installed. no pr=uninstall for me.
