All the movies I have are like 7 gigs and my DVD-R's are like 4.7...

I only want to make backups of my own DVD's, of course

get a dvd ripper, u can get dvdrips down to under 800megs

Use http://www.dvdxcopy.com

Check out the Platinum Version on Christmas, you will have the option to remove extras, language tracks, etc. and fit the dvd a blank 4.7 with the same quality as the original

I just read about this 1. Looked very good.. But I think it's now getting 2 the stores, not 100% sure.

i want to make copys of mine - or at least ones i rent...

is there a pure hardware solution anyone knows about? like a dvd player/burner combo something or other that panasonic or someone puts out?

If you can't spend little money on a good program that can save you hours of playing around with freeware and settings, you're don't even deserve any help.
