One thing we have to wise up to...

These rapid share forums do far worse damage then the tubes.
Complete site rips in HD.

I couldn't agree more Duke. They also are a severe pain in the ass to actually get your content removed from. Have you guys tried using www.removeyourcontent.com I am talking to Dean over there now.

RemoveYourContent does a great job. I would suggest to EVERYBODY in this business that you speak with those guys...at the very least just to get some idea of the true extent of this problem.

Having Eric of RemoveYourContent come in and do a seminar on what he sees in his daily job would be a GREAT seminar at a show. (it would actually be a seminar with some value to people)

I don't think most people who post here in a "matter of fact" tone and pooh-pooh what piracy is doing to our business have any idea how big this is.

you can go after rapidshare but sites like megaupload are owned by nefarious folks out of Hong Kong, good luck getting them to give a shit about your DMCA

We have our stuff taken down all the time from them:
http://megaupload.com/?c=abuse

Negativity doesn't get you anywhere. But it sure seems to be the prevailing attitude of GFY.

?

Im not being negative just stating facts, glad you succeeded.

I ve seen many people complain about megaupload NOT removing stuff, no need to come at me that way. Dig into who owns megaupload and youll see for yourself why they havent cared in the past but maybe remove stuff now.

I'm not attacking you...I guess I just get tired of people trying to tear down anybody that actually DOES something by saying: "Oh well that MIGHT work, but then they will just do this and that".

Now I understand that's not what you're doing. But it looked like it to me when you first posted.

And I'm unaware of it being a "fact" about them. I hired RemoveYourContent a long time ago and we've always had our stuff removed from almost everywhere except TPB

So my first hand experience is that they take it down and always have.

Of course an hour later somebody re-uploads it...but that's another story.

aye, i reread my post too didnt mean it to come across negative... I am glad you guys seem to have had success. Ive had clients and have read even on gfy i believe people complaining about them NOT removing it, times have changed though its possible they have changed, or the company you hired is better than the average joe.

either way, good luck man.

Then you are probably aware that they do little tricks to change the name of your content to stop you from finding it. They do it to us by posting Claudia-Marie stuff as Cl**dia Mar!e or Claud$a Mar#e or a hundred other little variations to throw you off when you are trying to find your stuff.

Goddamn I wish Eric would take my earlier advice and close this section off except for people who can prove that they are in this business.

Ohh for sure! That may trick a bot (which is what they think sweeps their forums).
What's sad is the vast majority of these links are posted by members who think it's their content after they paid for it. They eventually comply.

Yep. I cringe when I read one of them telling the rest of the forum that they will have the newest scene up for them shortly

If it's a bigger problem and you observe it, you could compare which members downloaded the video. Then place a unique 1 frame watermark into a new movie randomly, and with a unique video url to each of the suspected. Then you can identify the infringer.

This method is used by movie industry, if they release DVDs for reviewers. In fact, with so much piracy and sharing, I do not understand why a software doing this automatically for photo sets and/or movies has not been developed yet(?) for the adult industry. For some pirates, it's almost an obsession to release and "compete" (because it gives them "status" ), and for others it's for personal gain, maybe economic, on some level or another. Just scaring away the sources, could be enough protection to limit your loss.

This is just a suggestion, but I think any software programmers could also see some potential in this. Isn't there obvious demand and market for protection? Even affiliaties should be flagged this way, if they are given free access

I've handled it already. I'm sorta speaking now of when I'm looking for my old stuff and read the threads and see what they are writing about other paysites.

One way to defeat that is pull checks.
There was this one guy who used to kill us. Then he said "Tommorow Guys!!"
I pulled checks, and tomorrow never came.

I think tubes do more damage because of how simple they are to use. No 2 hours wait time of downloading etc. Just click play and go.

I can say for a fact that tubes do more damage to AFFILIATES.

Think about it for a second...

For 10 years I was making more money than God selling memberships to paysites on my TGP's. Everything on my tgps is designed to make sales.
And I sold millions of dollars worth of memberships.

But for the last couple of years...the majority of my tgp traffic (and everybody elses) is now at a tube site. It's almost impossible for any free site to compete with a tube. How can we? I'm offering a few pictures, a few seconds of video and link to the tour. The illegit tube offers every scene in it's entirety from the members areas for free!

So the traffic goes to the tube. But the tube doesn't have the marketing skills of a pregnant mosquitoe so instead of putting up an affiliate link to the actual site the video came from...they sell advertising space to paysites that have NOTHING to do with the video playing!

Thus affiliate sales continue to plummet. I promote hundreds of programs across all my free sites, and the traffic I now have is pathetic to me. And the sales are terrible for the paysites that have their stuff plastered up everywhere.

From what I have seen...the tubes are a major destructive force to affiliates. I think the surfer forums full of site rips on rapidshare are more hurtful to my paysite.

It's a very bad one-two punch.

Go after the hosts/upstream of the forums. The forum owner might try to claim safe harbor (if he even knows what it means), but most hosts don't want anything to do with infringement, or anything else that draws complaints, for that matter.

Yea, hosts do not want any part.. They will pull a forum quick.
