M3..now or later?

Here's my question..I have my car ordered with a scheduled delivery in Feb. I am going to be in Europe for a few weeks in April. BMW will hold the car till then, and I can take delivery at the factory and drive it over there on my trip.

Would you take it in FEB..or wait a couple months extra?

Don't wait.

Get it shipped here, and drive it as soon as you can!

Once you get it, you won't be able to stop driving/thinking about driving until feb, maybe longer.

Are you crazy, WAIT,

An M3 picked up in Munich, head for the autobahn, the Swiss alps, man how can you pass that up?

I have an M3 also I wish now that I did that, I took a trip to Germany last year and I got stuck with a Toyota station wagon with a diesel, dude the roads are a blast and with the M3 you will have a killer time!

Regards,

Kevin

There is almost always something wron with new cars when you get them, so wait until your local dealer can help you with the small bugs

The M3 is Germany, made there, beet on it there, you cant do that here in the states, roll out of Munich head south flat out at a 160 to the mountains. Man in two years when my lease in up I am getting either a new BMW or a Porsche and I will pick it up in Germany

Regards,

Kevin

the technology in the bmw has subsided to a far superior make and model by u.s. manufacturer Ford. In conclusion, forget about the bmw and go with the 03 Focus, you'll be much happier in the end.

Pick it up in Germany and take it for a test drive on the autobahn.

This will be the 5th BMW i've had..i currently drive an 01' 330i and still have a 98' 328 cab..As far as comparing quality between manufacturers..its moot..i've had the M3 on order for weeks..If the quality of the M3 is on par with the 330i..it will be fantastic.

you HAVE TO drive that car in the autobahn if you have the chance... or you'll be stuck at 65mph forever (unless you install a radar detector)

If I'm not mistaken. The Beemers that are made for the Bavarians have a higher Hp and Torque ratio then in the states...

Well, that was true for the E36 body style.

The car is made to all US standards..They have a good program for US residents if they want to pick it up at the factory..BMW will ship it back to the US from anywhere I want to drop it..and they pick up the insurance for the time i am in Europe..

What does Beemer charge to do a ship back like that?

Yes very true for the E36 as our engine in the States was much different and less powerful. For the new E46 the engines are very much the same. Main difference now is the standard front brakes on the Eu M3 are cross drilled and the US version rotars are not :-(

Minte,

I have an 02 AMG CLK and would do anything to drive it in Germany at high speeds Pick it up over there if you have the opportunity dude.

Thats the great part..there is no additional cost..I can pick the car up in Munich..drive it to Paris and they(BMW) ship it back to the US..The downside..If I take delivery in late April at the factory..i won't see the car back home until late May or early June

Won't you have a hard time driving an american car over in Europe? Being that the steering wheel is on the wrong side?
