what is best way to calculate conversion rate?

for example if a sales rep were to pitched 83 clients a product and he sold
24 of them what formula would i use to calculate his conversion rate?
i used to know this stuff but haven't had to do it in a while. If you could
refresh me memory i would appreciate it.

1:3.4 ... but this just assumes a one step process, which very few real sales funnels are ... do some googling for 'sales funnel' +analytics + metrics + pipeline 'n u'll find heaps of great resources
