I agree, I am all about prequels. I loved how they did Psycho 4.

One thing that was always cool about the Nightmare series is they always gave you little bits and peices of the Freddy origin in most of the movies. Like I think it was in the Dream Child where they showed that his mother was a nun who had been raped by patients in an insane assylum patients, and like in Dream Warrior where one of the girls turned out to be his daughter and they showed her playing in the yard and going into the shed and finding her dady's "tools", showing all the glove protypes he had been working on. I love shit like that.

They kinda half assed did an origin story in Zombie's Halloween remake. What a bummer that one was. I love Malcom McDowel but I hated the idea of a hipster Loomis. I also hear he's brining his wife back in the sequel as well, Sharri Moon will ride a big white horse and talk to Michael in his dreams

While I agree that almost all remakes end up sucking or just shouldn't have been made I don't think it is because of a lack of original or interesting ideas. It is a lack of vision by studio execs. The execs choose which pictures to make and for many of them the choice comes down to doing something original which means they will have to find out a good way to market it and get people in the theater, or take something that has already proven successful and do it again. So they take the easy route. It is a lot easier to remake a hit TV show into a movie and cast some well known people than it is to create something new and interesting so they see dollar signs and take the easy way out.

and many many many remakes are so much better than the original.

No shit. For example A Star is Born was originaly made in 1937 remade in 1954 then again in 1976.
