Boy if ... (another skin thread wee)

All you guys cared as much about keeping your content in your members areas as much as you do about a skin on gfy ...... Sorry but everyone doing the money grab, letting their content being kept for the price of a trial or a one month membership sure didn't help the situation. It baffles me how sites can have countless amounts of content that is worth who knows how much and freely let members download and keep it, and then wonder why its all over the internet on tubes. Then sit and whine about "drm" never worked blah blah. Customers didn't like it. Lets give up bothering to try and make sure the content stays where it is supposed to cause ... its too hard... someone will crack it..... surfers wont like it... blah fucking blah.

If people want to stop or slow the content that hits the tubes start doing something NOW. Yes the current cat is out of the bag, but do you want any new content you shoot to end up on those same tubes? If the tubes had no content or had to actually buy the content they use they wouldn't exist. Everyone doing the short term money grab. Everyone is greedy. Most of the current members areas out there just let the members download and keep any videos they have. I just don't get why such awesome business people don't realize the folly in this model. Unless you run a model that has a selling price per scene you are giving away the asset that you sell. Content.

Everyone needs to look at the original porn model. The adult book store. The peep show. Adult movie theaters. Am I saying it will be easy to reverse the damage that has been done? No. Its going to be hard. How do you start? You put one foot forward and start moving towards a model that makes sense. You either charge per scene prices and abandon the members area model, or you start making sure that people can view and enjoy your content but that they can't keep it. There is a whole lot of big money programs complaining about the skin. Use that energy to develop a plan to restructure this industry. If we don't do it on our own guess who is going to very soon? Do you want to control the future of your companies or let the government come in and do it?

Sure this thread is going to be fun.

AND YES! We all know dvds get ripped. Duh. Thats for the offline companies to figure out. Lets hear all the excuses for why it can't be done. Self destructive industries are fun... lol

There is no take backs. You cant undo or make people do things differently by force in a free market they will just go to those that still offer what they want the way they want it.

Makes you have to wonder how many of these people all up in arms about the tubes are making a fuss just to cover.... Its obvious they don't want to "REALLY" do something to stop the tubes. If they did they would be fighting like rabid dogs to figure out how to make sure their content stayed in their members areas. Plain and simple if you are letting members freely download and keep your content you are aiding in the destruction of the very industry that you making a living off of.

Me thinks some of you dost protest too much...

Right cause locking down a member area so your paying customer cant get the access he is used to is the silver bullet. Thank you oh wise one for saving us. The answers are out there but the people smart enough to figure it out sure aren't sharing it with the competition.

Stupid argument.

The answer to your car getting stolen out of your own driveway isn't, 'you should have had a garage with 4 locks on it'.

Sooner or later - sooner? - the porn industry is going to die if things do not change. Keep your heads in the sand if you wish but the times, they are a-changin'. Protect your shit or vanish. It's a race to ZERO my friends, so stop running around in circles and DO something about it.

Of course, this assumes that most of the people making a buck in porn intend to KEEP making bucks in porn, and don't just view their adult 'business' as a glorified hobby, as something to milk until the cow runs dry and then head off to sell, I dunno, crack.

Even banks get robbed, even the pentagon gets hacked.
Put as much energy into as you wish, your content will still be out there and when it is, you still get the right to object when people you thought you could trust go and do business with those that stole it.

Why does everything have to be so black and white on this board? Why is it that if you build better security, you can no longer complain about the thieves? Why can't you do both?

Yes, people should work on security, yes people should find ways to work with them/against them/around them, yes people should innovate, yes people should focus on their own business... but why does that suddenly mean that they can't be upset that they're being stolen from?

Starting a new paysite this week. All user submitted content that is hidden behind htaccess so you have to sign up as a member in order to submit a dmca. Its going to be massive. Ill have all my "users" sign up and download every bit of content from every site, and upload it to mine. Everytime I get a dmca notice Ill pull the content and cancel the membership of the paysite owner that sent the dmca then reupload it and ban that person from signing up again.

Its going to be HUGE!! But Ill make sure I protect all the content that the "users" uploaded.

We're in a classic prisoners dilemma. There's no way out.
One party shirking means they can gain an advantage.
The natural solution, with all individuals making rational choices, is still an equilibrium with an outcome that's less than the optimum.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to protect streaming video.

That being said, the only protection I can see working is random brands dead center on the screen. For example, every 15 seconds your logo pops up in the middle of the video preventing it from being stretched or cropped out.

You have made some valid points I'll try and brainstorm too. There's got to be a way to charge fairly, make money and protect video, somehow.

They can't be upset because they are not doing ANYTHING to stop content theft from their own members areas. What are they doing? Htaccess? They make it simple for anyone to go in with a download manager and rip their whole site in no time. Most of them say you will upset the po wittle surfer if they don't let them download and keep their content. I swear someone sells retard sandwiches at all the shows. We are a rental model. Yet selling content for a rental price.

Someone explain to me why the content we have is worth a tiny percentage of what it should be worth. If you goto an adult book store what is the average price of a dvd with 4 to 8 scenes on it? 20.00? 30.00? I've seen upto 100 per dvd. Why is our content (that costs the same to shoot) worth less when we deliver the content to the consumer at a faster more convenient method where they don't have to leave the house, don't have to face the embarrassment of people they know in the area seeing them get their porn etc etc?

Anyone looked at the prices cable companies charge to view a single movie as pay per view?

We are all working in an industry that doesn't know its own worth. We are working in an industry that is functionally retarded...

Sticky, don't get me wrong. I like your agenda.

But trying to convince people on the board to introduce streaming is not the right way.
You need to get the biggest, say, 10 porn companies into the boat.

So ask yourself the question: could you get Brazzers/Mofos/Juggcash to change to streaming?
Because if you can't, you have a pretty big hole that will always be sinking your ship.

I don't think that's fair to say. I would venture a guess that most people would like their member areas to be as secure as possible. Many might not know the way to do it but they are doing what they can.. You don't know every company's/person's resources or abilities anymore than anyone else.

And that being said, even if they do know more than you, or anyone else... they still have the right to complain as do those who don't know or do as much.

hehe there are already some of the biggest ones.. one of which is a legend switching over as we speak but its not for me to name names on that. And there are a handful that have already said on the boards they have switched.

Try reading before you call people retarded. I said get the access they are used to. Key being that they are used to. Since the start it has always been a buy and get full download and full access. DRM came out and failed cause it limited this core principal. Changes to limit people ability to save the content for later use has failed miserable cause people just leave and go to the ext site that offers it. Letting people save the content is the genie I was referring to that can not go back in the bottle.

I know because they have come into other threads saying that they won't stop downloadable videos and that it would upset the members. Its not guessing or conjecture.

Everyone got so scared due to the drm debacle and now are terrified to change anything. Yet they can obviously see what is happening and continue to play the violin as the titanic sinks...

The short answer is hindsight is 20/20 and we did not know then what we know now. My point is to go and say "oh how I wish we had not done that" is just as useless as ignoring the changes that are taking place now. Lastly its not that it wont be easy it wont be possible due to free markets.

finally a post were someone gets it. drm (with regard to porn) is a miserable failure, and it will continue to be for as long as the internet exists. hell, even itunes is getting rid of drm lol. first everyone bitched about freesites. then it was tgps. then it was mpgs. then it was torrents. then it was tubes. and it will continue down the same path.

the future will continue to roll on, and those who don't understand how to make money with the current (or even better, the future) model, will never get anywhere.

No see thats wrong. We DID NOT have the technology to stream then (or the bandwidth on consumer side) nor did we have the technology to limit the viewing time if we let them download it.

Its QUITE possible to do it. You offer the member a better product. And all the ones that say "people love to collect porn" I just flat out agree that, that is a large percentage of members. People want fresh porn to get off to. Not the same old scene they have watched 10 times. And if those "collectors" are happy with the same old stuff why would they rebill? Why would they want to join your site again?

Use common sense..

It will be interesting to see how many of the sites that offer it "the way they want it" are able to stay in business when their product is free elsewhere, and no longer has any value.

Im not going to get into the intricacies of this but there are many ways to get collects to rebill including the fact that many collectors like to collect. Think stamps and beanie babies people dont stop buying just cause they filled up there entire spare room and basement with useless junk now do they? These collectors are our best hope at staying alive.

Who is saying to use drm? Anyone that starts talking about drm and saying it didn't work isn't paying attention and needs better reading comprehension. And no one is saying money isn't being made. Im saying MUCH LESS money is being made, and if you dispute that you may as well give up in this thread, because if you think all the traffic the tubes are getting is helping make people money you are retarded. If there was no tubes, no free porn out there guess what? People start buying more memberships again. Its supply and demand and if you can't grasp that concept honestly....

If there are two restaurants on the same street one gives away all their food for free (food is of equal quality taste etc) and another one charging normal pricing how many customers do you think the restaurant charging for their food is going to make?

Porn used to be hard to get. Now its a mouse click away without a credit card. This all started by the "one up manship" that went on. Everyone trying to attract more traffic using "samples". Then another site wanted more traffic so they gave away even more "samples". Then tgps came around and everyone had a fit at first. Then more and more picture content given away to try and get more traffic. Then mgp's and everyone kept the clips very short, then another site wanted to steal some of the other sites traffic and made their clips longer. Then sponsors start doing free hosting for affiliates.. also retarded in my opinion. Give them a huge pps or 50% or more of your profit AND host the content.. Wow... just wow. Its a partnership folks, why in the world would the sponsor host for them and still give them the same payouts? Then Tubes started and now we have 10's of thousands of full scenes out there..

Fucking brilliant. Give away the very product we are trying to sell.... Yes Quiet you are right. Its a fucking brilliant business model right? So what is the response to "how do we fix this?" Answer?: It can't be fixed just ride with it.

Im going to start a new business soon. A car rental business. Except here is my brilliant plan.. Im going to.... get this...... LET THE CUSTOMER KEEP THE CAR!!! Pay for one weeks rental and thats right YOU KEEP THE CAR!!!!!

Imagine the business I will get. Ill have customers lined up around the fucking block. Here is the REAL kicker. My cars will clone themselves... Thats right CLONE THEMSELVES. Perfect copies will be made with the click of a button.

SO not only will you get 1 car for free. You can make as many cars as you want and give them away to your families and friends. And guess what every family and friend can also clone their car and give it away to family and friends.

I WILL BE SOOOOOOO RICH!

Anyone catching on yet, or are you seriously that dumb?

I mean I can keep getting more business by making slightly different models of cars that clone themselves.. Right?

Wow... ya those collectors (maybe 10% of members) will keep us alive... Or will they just go and download the video from the tube sites? Did you know tube8 allows people to download the videos as well and provides a link? lol

Its going to be HUGE!! But Ill make sure I protect all the content that the "users" uploaded.
i've been doing this for over a year and it works like a charm...

In 4 years, I'll start up a site called "TiredOfTubes.com".
This will be the only site advertising porn POST-Tube Era. "Want unseen porn? Enter here."

you are a fucking retard.

it doesn't matter how much bullshit you spew, it's still going down the same path. you can't stop it, me with my millions of dollars can't stop it, no one can stop lol.

you can write paragraph after paragraph, and it will make no difference to anyone.

do you even make any money in this biz? hell, i'm retired and still have lots of traffic and making money from it. it's really not rocket science. and i'm not sure where i said it was a good business model (of course it isn't, duh), it's just that it is a free market, the cat is out of the bag, and there is no turning back. tubes are just the start, things are going to get ever more difficult for those with no clue.

just simply too funny. okydoky. thanks for schooling me though. lol.

No one sees the irony of talking about theft, and then hot linking copyrighted videos from YouTube?

Hey its a free market....... Youtube has a dmca system in place...

Btw I don't hate the tube sites. I hate the fact that those bitching about them freely allow their content to be downloaded for a rental or trial fee and throw their hands up in the air and say "there is nothing we can do"

Really please tell me how you will rip it. Cause I've already had a lot of people try. Robbie uses a similar setup (and yes I helped him get theirs to be un rippable.) and has tested every ripper out there and it can't be ripped. And AGAIN no one is saying things will be 100% unable to be takin. Nothing can stop everyone. And if you think Im going to post how my stuff is protected on a public forum you are out of your mind. lol

I'm not saying that I will rip it, I just want to see it, and want others on gfy to see what solution you are proposing... you are in every tube thread shouting that you have miracle solution that will solve everyone's problems... so lets see what you've got... what do you have to hide? if it can't be ripped and actually works as well as you claim, what's the problem?
