If your FTP set-up prevents it from being automatic, around $30 is a fairly common price for one manual upgrade, with just a few bucks additional for each additional install. Many hosts will do it for free (You probably got that from this thread already.), although I prefer to hit my host up just on the hard stuff. You might just tell your host you want to do the automatic upgrades on WordPress and ask if they can set your FTP for that domain to allow you to do so. Upgrading WordPress is much much much easier now than it was in earlier version though, so you may want to take another stab at doing it yourself. Hope this helps.Comment

Sounds about right, everyone else who says that it's worth $5 or free, obviously has never had a nightmare wordpress upgrade... it's pretty rare, but it's possible for the db to get corrupted in the upgrade, there could be a plug in incompatibility or some other fuckup... if you hire the $5 guy, and something goes wrong, it's likely your blog will not only be down for hours, but could also cost you an arm and a leg to repair...If your FTP set-up prevents it from being automatic, around $30 is a fairly common price for one manual upgrade, with just a few bucks additional for each additional install. Yeah, because the $20/mo they pay for shared hosting more than pays for the host's time, even if it is basically just ncftpput, upgrade.
I'm sure this question above involves MAJOR REVISION CHANGES between WordPress. If this involves making/changing plugins from 1.5.x to 2.7.$TODAY, $250 isn't that bad - if it's just for a simple minor upgrade/bump, that's highway robbery.Last edited by GrouchyAdmin; 09-18-2009, 10:21 AM.Comment
